Windows Phone 7 Marketplace hits 25,000 apps milestone
Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 Marketplace has passed an important milestone today. The store now boasts over 25,000 apps, a figure its ammassed in just 8 months.
The figures aren’t officially from Microsoft however; they come courtesy of app tracking service WindowsPhoneAppList, who put the exact number at 25,076 apps. While fellow app tracker WP7Applications puts the number slightly lower at 24,878, it’s still a strong number considering the relative youth of the service.
According to the stats, most of the apps are gaming-orientated, closely followed by eBooks. Of the 25,000+ apps, a little over half are available for free.
While their still a long way off from catching the number of Android apps available, let alone the 450,000-odd iOS apps available via Apple’s iTunes, they’re still respectable figures, with the WP7 store growing at a rate of around 3,100 apps a month.
Pity then that hardly anyone has a WP7 phone. Perhaps the Nokia WP7 handsets launching later this year will help a little in that regard.

I enjoyed reading this a lot and I really hope to read more of your posts in the future, so I’ve bookmarked your blog. But I couldn’t just bookmark it, oh no.. When I see quality website’s like this one, I like to share it with others So I’ve created a backlink to your site (from my website, and don’t worry it is a do-follow one) you can see it here if you want to:
25,000 apps, you know, this number is very impressive, but campared with IOS app, that is nothing. Apple use only 480 days to reach the 100,000 apps. so, i am so worried that Nokia now is planning to rely they whole life on Windows phone. competiton is not in the same level.
