YouTube pushes social to the fore with new re-design
YouTube have today revealed the biggest design change for the site in its history.
The new-look YouTube splits hte homepage into three distinct areas, while pushing social features to the fore more than ever before. Mimicking in many ways the toolbar-style design of Facebook, the site now features more extensive social network integration, with Twitter, Google+ and Facebook sharing more prominent.
The idea is that more of your favourite types of videos, and those shared by your friends, will be instantly accessible when landing on the YouTube homepage.
A left-hand toolbar features links to videos shared by your social network contacts, as well as listing popular uploads, trending video topics and channels you subscribe to.
Clicking one of these options then populates the middle area of the page with videos relating to your selection. The right hand column on the page is devoted recommended content, based on your previous veiwing habits.
The entire site too has been brought in line with the new look, with channels now more easy to customise for video uploaders too.
