E3 2012: 3 Nintendo 3DS Games that saved Nintendo at this years E3
Nintendo may not have revealed a new 3DS at this years E3 but it seems Nintendo has done one better and provided 3DS owners some new games for the core gamer.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is among these great titles. Lords of Shadows – Mirror of Fate is the follow up of Lords of Shadows. This great Gothic side scrolling adventure game sees you play as Trevor Belmont from Castlevania III, Gabriel’s son and a sworn knight of the Brotherhood of Light, who is seeking to avenge his mother’s death who died at the hands of his own father! Gabriel has returned from the dead and has named himself Dracular while at the same time declaring war on the Brotherhood of Light and consequently his own son.
Now the story will not win any awards, but let’s face it, who plays Castlevania for the deep story lines? What you really want is to grab a whip and whip the minions of Dracular back to hell and if Mirror of Fate achieves this we shall be very happy. Sadly, the demonstration at E3 did not seem to go down too well many complained that the controls feel fine when jumping from platform to platform but begin to feel clunky when battling off the eveil enemies of Trevor. However it is important to note that the game is still in its development stages so they may iron out those cumbersome controls.
the game looks quite appealing, the style suits the games atmosphere. They are not the best graphics seen on the 3DS but they are by no means worst either.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate is set for release sometime in the Autumn.
Next up is the return of that lovable Italian plumber’s….Brother, Luigi. In his very own title Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, the follow up to the Gamecube game Luigi’s Mansion.
Luigi returns to his ghost vacuum cleaning in this 3DS title. Luigi will not be on his own this time, he will have Toad to accompany him in capturing those mischievousness ghosts, not sure what use a mushroom will be against ghost.. The presence of Toad suggest that there may be a possibility of a co-op mode, but this has not been confirmed as of yet.
Luigi will have many different mansions to explore and rid of ghosts and will require more of a strategy based style of gameplay.
Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon will be available over the Christmas period 2012.
Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance is another game which made quite a surprising appearance at this years E3. Dream Drop Distance is published by Square Enix and has a really unique mix of Final Fantasy character and Disney characters like; Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck and even an appearance of a world based on Tron; Legacy. All of which gives the game a very nice charm. This will be the seventh instalment of the Kingdom Hearts series but its first appearance on the 3DS.
Dream Drop Distance is set in the events just after Kingdom Hearts Codded. The seven worlds in which you play through have succumb to sleep you play as either has Sora or Riku and attempt to save the worlds from the nasty Dream Eaters.
Square Enix have truely utilised the 3DS’ capabilities and have increased action elements of the game. Dream Drop Distance also has a new gameplay mechanics like Flowmotion and Link Gauges which help Sora with his attacks.
Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance is released in the UK on the 20th of August 2012.
