NOW TV: Sky's on-demand video portal goes live
NOW TV, the Sky-powered on-demand video service, goes live today in the race for VOD dominance against the likes of Netflix and LOVEFiLM. Accessible to preview applicants, the service will be available for all to try as of tomorrow.
Plenty of both Sky’s original content and licensed content is coming to the platform, streamed over the web to PCs, Macs, iPads, iPhones and select Android phones, with other devices such as the PS3, Xbox 360, YouView set-top box and Roku streamer getting support later int he year.
The service launches with cuts from Sky’s Sky Movies package, with the broadcaster promising to add five new movies to the service every Friday. Later on in the year the service will expand to include content from Sky Atlantic, Sky Sports, Living and more.
A pay-per-view service, customers can pay between £0.99 and £3.49 per movie, or opt in to the Sky Movies pass for unlimited access for £15 a month. A free 30 day trial is available to all users.
