Samsung planning Retina-rivalling 11.8in, 2560 x 1600 tablet?
Samsung’s ongoing legal spat with Apple has revealed a new tablet in the pipeline from the South Korean firm. And it looks set to land with a Retina-rivalling high resolution display.
Codenamed the P10, it’s listed in court documents as an 11.8 inch tablet running a pin-sharp 2560×1600 display. Sitting alongside products launched in 2011 in the documents, it’s timestamped for a 2012 release date, suggesting an IFA 2012 unveiling in time for a Christmas release.
Last year Samsung had been rumoured to be putting together a high-resolution tablet with the aim of getting it to market before Apple could reveal their Retina-packing new iPad. But with the third generation Apple slate landing in March, it appears Samsung have held fire.
Rumours circulating last year also suggested the tablet would use a dual-core 2GHz CPU and feature Android Beam, Google’s wireless NFC content sharing system.
We’ll be keeping a close eye on the Samsung stand come this Autumn’s IFA for any sign of this intriguing device.
