lg-84-inch-UDTV.jpgNot quite sure there’s a Christmas tree big enough to fit LG’s latest-and-greatest TV underneath, but we’re still hoping and praying that we’ve got one to unwrap come Christmas morning. Today LG launch the stonking 84-inch LG 84LM960V Ultra High Definition 4K TV in the UK. And it’s got a price tag fitting for a TV so massive.

Costing £22,499.99, it runs at a native 4K resolution of 3840×2160, and packs in stereo speakers and two sub woofers to give it a bit more audio grunt than your average flatscreen TV to go along with the super-sharp display.

The TV comes complete with a passive 3D system (using the same sort of non-powered, inexpensive glasses you would find in a cinema – LG throw in five pairs for free) as well as online Smart TV functionality. The 3D system is in a lower resolution than those you’d find with an active 3D set, but considering the already-high native resolution, you’re still getting a 1080p picture in each eye.

Elsewhere, the TV has built-in Wi-FI and is DLNA certified, meaning you can stream media from around your house direct to the display.

If you’re looking to get eyes-on with the set before commiting that sizeable sum of cash, customers can check give it a gander this weekend at the Gadget Show Live event at Excel in London, running from today until 2 December. The TV then joins the LG roadshow around the country, hitting the Bullring in Birmingham (7 – 9 December) first, then heading back to London at the Westfield Stratford shopping centre(13 – 15 December), before concluding at the Trafford Centre in Manchester (21 – 24 December).

Imagine the Downton Abbey Christmas special on that beast…
