Tom Hardy to play Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell movie
Tom Hardy has signed on to play the leading role of Sam Fisher in an upcoming movie adaptation of the Splinter Cell games.
The Dark Knight Rises villain will be trading in Bane’s mask for the undercover operative’s glowing goggles in the espionage movie, with game publishers Ubisoft said to have a close eye on how the flick will be put together.
So far, no director has been locked down, nor a studio, though both Paramount and Warner Bros. are in preliminary talks. The script too has yet to be finalized, with Eric Warren singer, the scribe behind 2009 thriller The International penning Sam Fisher’s silver-screen debut.
Ubisoft are stepping on the gas when it comes to movie adaptations of their hottest properties. Hardy will join Michael Fassbender, who will be taking a lead role in the Assassin’s Creed movie with New Regency.
As for Splinter Cell games, the next in the series will be Splinter Cell: Blacklist, due out in Spring 2013.
