Watch in horror as Samsung torture a Galaxy Note 2 in the name of stress testing
Reading this on a Samsung Galaxy S3 or Samsung Galaxy Note 2 smartphone? Spare a thought for the brave little handsets who made it possible by enduring Samsung’s torturous stress testing regime.
As shown in the video above, Samsung’s smartphones are vigorously tested to ensure they’ll be able to withstand (within reason) pretty much anything you can throw at them. Samsung detail tests that see the home button pushed 200,000 times at varying levels of pressure, as well surviving being churned among a load of sharp pointy objects that double up the same effects that your keys and coins have on the phone in your pocket.
Best of all though is the “bum” test; Samsung have a machine that, we kid you not, wears a pair of jeans and replicates a bum squashing a smartphone, under cheek. Barmy, but no doubt necessary; I’ve lost count of the times I’ve sat on a smartphone sitting snug in my back pocket.
The video is all in Korean, but definitely worth a look if you want to know just how your smartphone is able to endure so many butter-fingered drops. Click above to check it out.

Some of these tests did make me squirm a bit, especially the ones that involved water. I was amazed to see how well the phones stood up to them, and I think this is testament to how well designed and built Samsung’s phones (or at least their top-end phones) are.
