ascend-mate-top.jpgHuawei’s giant Ascend Mate Android “Phablet” smartphone has hit UK stores, with pre-orders kicking off at £334.99.

That’s the price listed over at online retailer Expansys, making the handset considerably cheaper than the similarly-oversized Samsung Galaxy Mega, costing £469.99 for it’s 6.3 inches of Android tech.

Unveiled earlier this year at the CES 2013 tech show, the Ascend Mate is a whopping 6.1-inches, with a 1280×800 resolution touchscreen.

Running Android 4.1, the phone is powered by a 1.5GHz processor and features Huawei’s Emotion UI reskin. 2GB of RAM is also onboard, as well as large 4,050mAh battery to keep that screen topped up with juice, good for 22 hours of talk time.

The handset also sports 4G connectivity, as well as a 8MP rear camera and 1MP front-facing camera for video calls, which should look particularly striking on that large screen.

We’ll have a full review of the Huawei Ascend Mate on Tech Digest shortly, so keep checking back for our full verdict.
