Nokia Lumia 1020, aka 'EOS', revealed in leaked press shot
A picture claimed to be a press snap of Nokia’s forthcoming Lumia 1020 handset has appeared online. If the real deal, those expecting a massive redesign for the Lumia range should probably stop reading now to avoid disappointment.
The handset (previously rumoured to be called the Nokia EOS), has had its picture posted by the @evleaks Twitter account, apparently showing a US model given the AT&T carrier logo displayed onscreen.
Featuring the standard Windows Phone Live Tile UI, it appears very similar in design to Nokia’s previous Lumia offerings. Things should get more interesting around the back though, which @evleaks failed to show – rumoured to be a camera-tech focussed smartphone, the Lumia 1020’s sensor could be quite a site, said to be sharing the 41MP unit found in the company’s earlier PureView phone experiments.
Nokia are expected to launch the handset officially at a press event in New York on 11 July. If the high-tech cameraphone rumours prove to be true, the Lumia 1020 will face stiff competition from Samsung’s recently launched Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom, which features similarly impressive camera tech in shape of a 10x optical zoom.
