Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet snapped in the wild, looms over 1020
With the word “phablet” now making its way into the Oxford Dictionaries Online, it’s open season for the supersized phone/tablet hybrids. Now looking a dead-cert to be putting out one such device are Nokia, whose rumoured Lumia 1520 device has been spotted in the wild alongside a Lumia 1020.
And it absolutely dwarfs it. Said to be featuring a 6-inch 1080p display, the Lumia 1520 is also rumoured to be sporting a 20MP PureView camera and polycarbonate body, while those at WPCentral (who were first sent the above image) speculate that the case it is housed in above will also facilitate Qi wireless charging. With a screen that big, and powered by a quad-core Snapdragon CPU, wire-free charging may be a blessing – we’d imagine the handset to chew threw battery power in no time at all.
In terms of UI tweaks, the extra screen real estate seems to be allowing for a third column of Windows Phone 8 Live Tiles too – good for those who like to populate their home screens with plenty of at-a-glance info.
Nokia have a press conference lined up for the end of September. Expect to see this and potentially a Windows RT tablet making their debut then.
