BT release wifi security camera for the home
BT has announced a new product: a wifi security camera that will keep an eye on your home when you’re out. And it sounds pretty good too.
The device is pretty clever – all you have to do is connect it to your wireless router and you can tune into the pictures (and even audio) live wherever you are in the world using either the iPhone or Android app, or logging in via a web browser.
The camera itself runs at 720p at 10 frames per second (fps). Reduce the quality and it can increase: it handles VGA (640×360) and QVGA (320×180) at 30fps. Crucially for a security camera, the viewing angle is 78 degrees horizontal and 45 degrees vertical.
Multiple cameras are supported too, and its possible to name them – so you can call them “kitchen”, “living room” and so on.
In terms of security features, there’s a built in motion sensor and it’ll even send a notification to your phone if it detects an intruder.
The smart cam is on sale now and costs £99.99 – if you have one, let us know what you think in the comments!
