Facebook pulls plug on Poke and Camera apps

Social network giant Facebook has removed the standalone Poke and Camera iOS apps from Apple’s iTunes App Store.
But as The Inquirer reports, the demise of Facebook Poke will not come as much of a surprise to many, with the app being viewed as a less-than-successful Snapchat clone.
Described by Facebook as a “simple and fun way to say hello to your friends”, Poke let users send messages, photos and videos lasting up to 10 seconds, which would disappear after they had been viewed.
Camera was essentially a copy of Instagram, which Facebook bought for $1bn in 2012.
