Global banking giant HSBC is joining the growing rank of businesses that offer free wi-fi to customers.
The BBC says that free wi-fi in hundreds of branches is part of a move by HSBC to encourage customers to manage their accounts on smartphones.
The service has been rolled out to around 650 branches throughout the UK via BT’s wi-fi network.
HSBC recently announced it has seen more than £2 billion of payments and transfers made via mobile banking app, with more than one million log-ins being made every week.
Rival banking chain Barclays launched free wi-fi in its 1,600 UK branches in 2013.
