Upcoming Microsoft event reignites Surface Mini rumours
According to MicrosoftNews, Microsoft has sent out invitations to various members of the press to a “small gathering” on May 20, where the Surface Mini may finally be revealed.
The cosy event will be held by the software (and now hardware) giant in New York at 11am EDT/ 8AM PDT. Though no specific details have been confirmed as of yet.
For the last few months, rumours of a cut-down version of Microsoft’s Surface tablet have circled around the web. And it could well target Samsung’s Galaxy Note range with its form factor and rumoured note-taking features.
It is said to sport a 7.5 inch 1440×1080 pixel display, with a 4:3 aspect ratio similar to that of Apple’s iPad ratio. This backs up a previous statement by Microsoft, where it promised the introduction of further Surface tablets, sporting different screen sizes and aspect ratios.
As tech journalists are treating the existence of such a tablet as a foregone conclusion, the killer question is whether it’ll house the slimmed down Windows RT or full fat Windows 8.1.
We’ll let you know when more information, umm, surfaces.
