Samsung Galaxy W shows big phones have officially become ridiculous

Check this out – its the new Samsung Galaxy W, announced today but only for South Korea.

That’s right – its massive. Apparently the screen is 7″ – arguably pushing it out of the “phablet” category and into “its supposed to be tablet”.

Now I know it is pretty cliched to complain about how silly large phones look when held to the ear to take a call, and I know that we nerds should be utopians, believing technology is a great emancipatory force… but I’m prepared to call it. This officially became ridiculous on June 2nd 2014.

It isn’t even a very good phone – sporting only a 1.2ghz processor, 1.5GB RAM, and running Android 4.3 JellyBean rather than the newer Android KitKat. But hey, it has an 8MP camera and a massive screen.

Oh, how we laughed at you, Nokia Ngage users… but who’s laughing now?

We’ll let you know if the Galaxy W comes to the UK – but chances are you’ll probably see it towering over the horizon at the same time we do.
