Destiny beta ends with 4.6 million players
If you blinked, you could have missed it. On Sunday evening the beta of forthcoming massively multiplayer online shooter Destiny drew to a close. Since then, developers Bungie has revealed that a staggering 4,638,937 – that’s just over 4.6 million players took part in the window between July 17th and last Sunday.
This makes it the largest ever console beta for a new title – and is surely an indication that the game, when it is released properly on September 9th – will be a hit. What’s more, the beta was only accessible to PS3 and PS4 players – so Xbox gamers haven’t even been factored in yet.
This beta followed a week long Alpha release in June that was restricted to a tiny handful of players.
When we played the beta we weren’t massively impressed – let us know what you thought in the comments.
