Is this the iPhone 6 final assembly?
Another week, another batch of rumours and leaks about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6.
First up, we have a report from Slashgear with images allegedly showing the final screen assembly of the phone.
Slashgear says: “The pics are of the oft-rumored and widely anticipated iPhone 6 with a 4.7-inch screen. The display is affixed to the front fascia, which is consistent in form with previous leaked shots we’ve seen.
“A larger home button cutout could give way to a revamped TouchID, and the curious third hole up top is also there. A few cables are also sticking out from the top, which is consistent with Apple manufacturing protocol for display assembly.”
But the pictures may just be fake. As Apple Insider points out: “Missing is the usual electromagnetic shielding that has in the past been attached directly to the faceplate.
“It is possible that the metal plate will be added on during a later stage of production, or Apple may have rejiggered the phone’s internal design to marry the component with the rear chassis.
We’ll have to wait until Apple unveils the actual iPhone 6 next month to find out either way.
Meanwhile, our friends at Shiny Shiny have some other rumours for you, including pictures of the iPhone 6 in retail packaging (which may or may not be fake).
