Pavlok fitness band will give you ELECTRIC SHOCKS if you don’t work out
Is your Fitbit too tame? Then check out the Pavlok – a similar device but with one crucial difference: It will punish you for not meeting your goals.
Assuming it isn’t some kind of joke (it seems to be real), Pavlok is based on the principle of “Willpower isn’t enough. Habit change requires accountability.” and takes its cues from Pavlov’s dog: The famous experiment that trained dogs to salivate at the sound of a bell by ringing a bell when feeding them.
The idea here is that if you don’t work out and meet your goals, you’ll get an electric shock. The idea is that you’ll soon have trained yourself to get moving – out of fear of another shock.
This isn’t the only motivator: You can set the app to charge your bank account money whenever you don’t hit your goals, or even post to your Facebook page publicly admitting you didn’t make it to the gym.
If you’re a glutton for punishment, the Pavlok will apparently cost about $150 (about £92) and will be shipping from early next year.

Early bird rate sold out within only a couple of hours! Right now there are only the wristbands for the ‘almost-early-bird’ rate left (US$ 129 instead of the later retail price of US$ 199). Huge success after only 1 day of crowdfunding! Here my guess where they will end up in terms of final amount: http://createhabits.today/pavok-indiegogo-campaign-started/
I have a feeling that Pavlok will destroy the unfulfilled New Year’s resolution. It’s the initiative and accountability in obtaining your goals. We live in a society that is flooded by information. Sometimes we get distracted by the most minute things and lose sight of what we want to accomplish. Pavlok can be the friendly reminder that your goal is still waiting to be fulfilled. Life progresses and so do you. Your potential becomes habitual. Who doesn’t like something productive becoming second nature? The best part is that Pavlok tailors to your specific needs. It is so much more than a shock. You can set whatever rewards and punishments will be most effective for you, and it can be totally private, or you can join a habit group with other people working on the same goals. I for one am going for it and picked up a device off of IndieGoGo. They’re still available at the Early Bird price – check it out and pick on up for yourself here while they’re in stock!

Personally, I believe in the potential of this product. There are even rumors that Apple is interested in buying Pavlok: http://createhabits.today/apple-interested-in-buying-pavlok/
This would work really well with their new watch product!
Yes, I believe so too!
You can get yours from their IndieGoGo page!

I know! But I will be an Alpha tester, so I paid US$ 249 (!) to get my hands on the (3D printed) product during the remainder of this year and to help iron out any bugs for the actual launch 🙂
Ah, smart guy. I can’t wait for mine. I really think it can guide me in a fantastic direction 🙂
