PS4 drops to below £300 for the first time

Could we be about to see a pre-Christmas console price war? It seems that Sony has cut the price of its console.
The news comes from Gamestop UK, which is currently selling the Glacier White model for £299.97.
Whilst price drops are obviously expected over time, could the drop this side of Christmas be due to Sony getting nervous Microsoft getting its act together?
Though concrete numbers are scarce, it is widely believed that the PS4 is currently outselling the Xbox One approximately 2:1.
