EE ends “Orange Wednesdays” 2-for-1 cinema promotion after ten years

EE is to end its special offer on cinema tickets, after failing to agree a new deal with cinema’s industry body.
According to Marketing Magazine EE wanted to roll the promotion, which started life as Orange Wednesdays back before the Orange/T-Mobile merger, into a broader promotion focusing on digital… and obviously digital scares the life out of cinemas.
Apparently take-up on the offer had been slowing anyway, due to the increase in options to watch films on mobile devices and so on.
The plug will finally be pulled in February, so if you’re an EE customer and you want to get cheap cinema tickets, better do it soon.
