EE launches wifi calling to let you call and text when there’s no signal

EE has earned itself another UK mobile industry first this morning as it has become the first network to launch support for calls over wifi.
What this means is that with supported handsets – at the moment only the Galaxy S6, S6 Edge and Microsoft Lumia 640 – even if you have no phone signal, as long as you’re on your home wifi network you can still call and text as normal.
The new facility differs from, say O2’s Tu Go app, because it doesn’t require an app to work – and from Vodafone’s “Sure Signal” because it doesn’t require additional hardware. Apparently it will work wherever you can connect to a wifi hotspot.
Apparently support for the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 5S and 5C will be coming in the next few weeks.
