Master Lock introduces outdoor biometric padlock
American security brand Master Lock has launched a weatherproof and attack resistant biometric padlock that allows rapid fingerprint unlocking without the need for a traditional key.
Designed for Airbnb hosts and families alike, the outdoor Biometric Padlock can save up to 10 different fingerprints so that access can be shared with your most trusted contacts. Prints be stored for two primary users plus eight additional people.
First time users will need to unlock using the directional system before fingerprints can be added and removed to revoke access. The padlock’s zinc casing, boron alloy shackle and double-locking closing system all guarantee a better resistance to any attempted attack, claims Master Lock.
In addition, a dual ball bearing locking mechanism has been designed to protect against prying attacks. The easy-to-grip padlock is covered with a thermoplastic elastomer as added protection against the elements.
The replaceable CR2 battery has a one-year life expectancy with a light indicator to alert the user to low energy levels. Master Lock has designed the padlock with a discreet compartment to jump start using a nine-vault battery should the energy completely run out.
Fingerprint recognition technology has become commonplace with consumers since leading smartphone manufacturers began installing biometrics on their mobile devices. According to Master Lock, 65% consumers report that they are at least somewhat familiar with biometrics whilst 72% of adults have an interest in fingerprint recognition to verify identity. The global biometrics market will surpass $70 billion by 2025.
The 4901EURDLHCC Outdoor Biometric Padlock will be available from a variety of retailers including Amazon.co.uk for a recommended retail price of £89.00. For more information visit www.masterlock.eu
