Google Chrome back to beta for the next generation
I’ll admit it right now. I’m a Google Chrome user. I downloaded it however many months ago it was now and it it’s still the default browser on my work PC.
I might try to convince myself that it’s still here through laziness or that I’ve just become accustomed to it but the fact remains that it just seems quicker and to crash less than Firefox does. (Sorry Leon, I’ve tried Opera but it’s just not my cup of tea.)
So, I’m quite pleased today to see that Google has launched a new beta…
iPhone 3.0 OS – what it means for you and me
Well, there was no new handset and no or touch tablet revealed but Apple seems to have done it’s homework in time for last night’s release of the iPhone 3.0 OS software. A lot of people have branded the event an exercise in catch-up but I think that rather trivialises what is an important upgrade…
T-Mobile offers push e-mail to all for £3.50
A friend of mine was just complaining about their G1 being fantastic apart from having no push e-mail service, but it seems as if T-Mobile has answered her prayers today. The UK part of their network has released such a deal for all handsets – eventually – for the price of just £3.50…
Total Hotspot iPhone app – your directory of free Wi-Fi
With Apple set to make an announcement of unknown proportions around the iPhone 3G within the next few hours, I thought I’d offer something to be pleased about in case the whole thing is a total let down. Let’s face it, if you don’t have an iPhone, the 3.0 version of the software isn’t exactly going to be the thing that tips the balance.
For me, it’s the apps that work the magic on my purse strings and I rather like this one from Rummble and Total Hotspots called, er, Total Hotspots. Looks like someone’s getting a bit of a raw deal there.
It’s all about Wi-Fi internet access…
Dell Adamo available from £1,649 today – super thin, super sexy
Prepare yourself for some sort of Dell orgasm because the Adamo is available today. The Texas company has launched two versions and two colours of their take on the MacBook Air and they’re using Barry White levels…
BARGAIN OF THE WEEK: D-Link goodies on St.Patrick's Day
St. Patrick’s Day is an utter mystery to me. I completely understand the celebrations in Ireland and slightly appreciate why people in London might want to raise a glass but as for the massive event it is in the States, well, that’s a just a straight piss up, isn’t it? I suppose he’s more the patron saint of drinking rather than anything else.
Anyway, for all those of Irish decent in New York and Chicago and all the millions of hangers on looking for a laugh, I have a bargain of the week for you courtesy of D-Link who has decided to save you some green on their green products while the rivers of America are dyed green and people in the streets slowly turn green themselves. Are you getting the connection?
The point is that they’re offering 10% off whole bunch of routers…
Take the noise (and fun) out of karaoke with Urusakunai Kara OK!
Picture the scene: you’re due to perform at the big sing-off tonight, and you desperately need to do some warming up. But oh no! Your neighbours are at home and have taken out an ASBO on your noisy antics. What do you do?
Well, Urusakunai Kara OK! to the rescue! This handy little microphone plugs straight into the back of your Nintendo Wii and allows you to sing along to your heart’s content without bothering your neighbours. With the attached plastic sing-tube (for want of a better description), you can belt out “Total Eclipse of the Heart” for only your Wii (and not your neighbours) to judge you.
The device is washable, which is a relief for anyone who has to share your karaoke equipment. Personally I think I’ll hold out for the giant Perspex Rock Band Drum box.

Second Generation Surface Two-Three Years Away
You there! Yes you! Do you want your relationship made closer with the warm artificial glow of a touch screen tablet in your living room like the catalogue couple above? Well, Microsoft’s £10,000 Surface is for you!
But I know what you’re thinking. You want to get even closer to the little lady with an additional projector layer. Don’t worry friend, Microsoft has your back – Surface 2 is in the works, but you will have to wait 2-3 years to get the closeness you crave.
Actually, the press image above is misleading a number of levels – not just in the amount of joy it will bring the average couple. Y’see, it’s mainly designed with tourism, enterprise and public facing solutions in mind. And that’s when the second iteration will come in handy – a tourist map could add a satelite layer, for example, or more text information on top of points of interest. All very useful, and a big improvement on the original which relied on just five internal cameras to provide its touch interface.
All of this has been revealed at SXSW, where a developer from Phenomblue has said it’s in the development stage and still a long way from commercialising. Which is just as well really, because all of you who rushed out and paid the £10,000 when we reported it last week would be mightily peeved if you needed to upgrade so soon.

Toshiba Store HDDs – the kind of storage that gets me hot
I’m not sure why I get excited about external storage solutions. I think it’s the computer equivalent of shelving and anyone out there can understand people getting pleasure out of talking about that, right?
So, that given, you can basically double my levels of manly excitement when I see that these things look as good as the latest range of external drives from Toshiba. If you like them gloss, then go for the Toshiba Store Art which come in 1.8″, 2.5″ and 3.5″ depending upon how large your collection of illegal downloads is – 160GB, 500GB or a whole fat 1TB.
1080p Toshiba Camileo P10 camcorder for just £99
This is an 1080p camcorder. It’s called the Toshiba Camileo P10 and it costs under £100. You can now close your mouth.
Along with the S10, the other camcorder announced by Toshiba today, it has a 4x zoom…
