Philips may’ve announced the GoGear SA52 media player, but they still know iPod-friendly docking stations are a clear winner, unveiling four new products today.

With the DC185, DC910, DC570, DC200, DC1010 and BTM630, there’s something for all the dock fans.

Pictured, the DC910 charges as it plays, although I doubt it offers Arcam’s smart technology where it stops charging once the battery is full. If you don’t own an iPod, that’s fine by Philips, as they also have USB and SD card slots so you can play choons thattaway too…

Philips announces their GoGear SA52 PMP with 4GB capacity

Apologies, this is turning into a Philips-themed day!

The company has just announced the GoGear SA52 PMP, which plays MP3, WMA and AAC music files, along with WMV video. With 4GB of storage and a 2.8″ QVGA LCD display, it also features some controversial audio ‘upscaling’, where the Digital Signal Processor adds ‘quality’ to the compressed audio tracks.

I’m always hesitant to recommend products that enhance…

Yesterday's technology, pimped with £40k worth of jewels – the Nokia E90

Back when the Mobile World Congress was known as 3GSM, Nokia announced a business handset called the E90. Ring a bell? It should, it was only last February!

A year later, and the smartphone has turned bling, getting a posh makeover with 408 diamonds and an 18-carat white gold casing. Someone should tell the designer, Peter Aloisson, that it’s best to pimp recent handsets, as I doubt anyone will want to shell out £40,000 for year-old technology. Regardless of the bling-a-ring-ring….

Philips has whipped out a platter of some of the products they’ll be releasing within the next few months, including the Eco FlatTV which, as it sounds, is their eco-friendly offering.

Paramount exploits use of widgets for upcoming Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull film

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.jpg

Paramount has taken advantage of all the internet has to offer, with the release of their second trailer for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull employing the use of a widget for fans to embed into their blogs and social networking profiles.

Whilst it reeks of astro-turfing, Paramount clearly knows what they’re doing, offering a contest where fans can win trips to the world premiere of the film if they manage to embed the ‘Skull’ widget onto as many sites as they can. They’ve also…

Fancy downloading Spaced, Peep Show and Skins on iTunes? Channel 4 TV shows now available

itunes-channel-4.jpg

A huge boost to both Channel 4 and iTunes has been announced today, with the teenager-friendly UK TV network now offering its premiere shows on the UK iTunes.

Classics such as Spaced, Teachers, Peep Show, Black Books, Shameless, Monarchy and newbie Skins will be available for download, at £1.89 per episode, a far cry from the $1.99 the US market pays.

An obvious ploy for recruiting youngsters to download their favourite comedy shows by legal means, the episodes will be perfectly formatted for viewing on iPods. Whether you want Spaced’s Marsha “just popping down to Threshers to do the weekly shop” Klein perfectly formatted is another question entirely…

Google plants early easter egg for Google Docs readers, blogger spoils the surprise

cliply-pic.gif

Hidden within a Google Docs document, an enterprising blogger discovered some code which forms this annoying little fellow, dubbed ‘Cliply’ by Google.

This is sounding like a horror story isn’t it, particularly when you gaze upon Cliply and realise he is the bastard child of Microsoft’s Clippy character from their Office program of yesteryear.

Early April Fool’s joke, spoiled by a blogger? More…
