'F' is for Fashion – LG to announce KF750, KF240 and KF300 handsets at CeBIT
At this week’s CeBIT expo, LG will be rolling out three new additions to the KF range; the KF750, KF240 and KF300 handsets. The KF750, codenamed ‘Libra’, is the main one to keep an eye out for – it’s high end slider with a 5 megapixel camera, 160MB internal memory, VGA video camera and microSD card slot. The navigation touch pad looks to be the most exciting part and presumably is capable of displaying different symbols depending on which menu you’re in.
CES 2008: iriver no longer satisfied with MP3 market, UNIT2 to take on your whole living room instead
Games consoles, TVs, media centrer PCs – they all have one thing in common. They want TOTAL DOMINANCE of your lounging space. Well so does iriver and it will soon be using its UNIT2 to get it. It’s calling…
CES 2008: iriver Clix+ portable media player with OLED screen
OLED technology is catching on fast if this year’s show is anything to go by. The player in my hand is the iriver Clix+ which is due to be landing this side of the pond fairly soon. It’s coming in pink and black. To be honest, unlike some of the other OLED screens around the show, it wasn’t quite so overbearingly colour saturated as you might expect.
CES 2008: IZ3D gaming monitor pwns 3D plasmas
Tucked away in the Microsoft stand at CES, a company called IZ3D is showing off the world’s first 3D gaming monitor. There’s been a lot of 3D news floating around the show this year thanks to the Texas Instruments DLP announcement and the compatible Samsung plasma screens that will be debuting the technology later in the year. IZ3D’s screens are way better though and here’s why:
CES 2008: Dogbot meets webcam
Webcam maker, ExecCam had a stall full of really cool, beautifully crafted webcams made out of a huge range of diverse materials ranging from rosewood to marble, to cork and leather. Unfortunately, my attention was then immediately grabbed by the cutesy robotic dog models that they had in a corner display case. Awwww – but isn’t that infringing on Aibo copyright just a little bit?
CES 2008: Da Vinci inspired remote control miniatures
Airborne Remote Controlled toys are great fun, right up until you take someone’s eye out with your aerial acrobatics. But as technology gets smaller and smaller, so does the size of remote control gizmos and Interactive Toy Concepts has two diminutive offerings that will be great for annoying friends, relatives and pets alike without risking permanent injury. Although that might take the fun out of it I suppose.
The first is the Micro Aerial Vehicle (MAV) Ornithopter based on Leonardo Da Vinci’s famous designs. It has a wingspan of less than 5” and has an on-board rechargeable lithium polymer battery, which allows for 7 miuntes of flying time from a 5 minute charge.
CES 2008: Never get up from your pool lounger again, thanks to the RC Cooler
There’s really nothing better than lazing around in the sun next to your pool with an ice cold beer. Or at least I’m fairly sure there isn’t – but then I live in a third floor flat in Scotland, which pretty much rules out ‘pools’ and ‘sun’ all at once. One thing I definitely don’t like doing is hauling my lazy arse out of a chair to go and find more beer, which is why the Interactive Toy Concepts RC Cooler looks fantastic.
CES 2008: Impecca WiFi picture frames accesses your photos from afar
Digital Photo frames are another staple of CES, although having been utterly bowled over by the stunning intensity of Sony’s little OLED screens, I wonder how long the traditional LCD digital picture frames are going to keep up. But now that LCD frames have been lurking around for a fair old while, they’re starting to enjoy some really powerful connectivity options. The latest set from Impecca, which makes a fair few digital frames, along with iPod docks and portable DVD players, offer WiFi access and the ability to stream pictures from the internet.
CES 2008: 10-in-1 Wii sports family pack
From the makers of the Wii boxing gloves comes the 10-in1 sports family pack, containing pretty much all the cheap knock-off Wii accessories you could possibly wish for. Sure, they may not be of particularly stunning quality – as the crazy angle of the official photos makes seems to imply – but just look how many you get in there!
