2007 in Review No.1: iPhone rolls out
Part of our series of festive posts looking back at the key happenings in 2007… 2007 truly was the year of the iPhone. Apple’s svelte mobile handset was the subject of an enormous amount of hype, speculation, opinion and criticism during the year, leading up to its US launch, and then all over again for its launch on this side of the Atlantic.
Radiohead: "We've made more money from In Rainbows than all the other albums put together…"
Many people thought Radiohead were mad to let fans choose their own price for the band’s new ‘In Rainbows’ album, but it appears Thom Yorke and co are having the last laugh. In the latest issue of Wired, he says the band is rolling in dosh (I paraphrase, obviously):
Brits love promoting themselves on video sites, says MSN
According to a new survey by MSN Video, more than two million Brits upload clips to video-sharing websites in order to promote themselves or their work. Men are twice as likely to do it than women (34% to 16%), while 19% of uploaders over the age of 45 using these sites to promote their businesses.
Facebook gets its own brain training game
You can shove your Dr. Kawashima where the sun don’t shine – the hot new thing is connected brain training on Facebook. At least, that’s what I reckon after playing Who Has The Biggest Brain?, a new Facebook app that tests your grey cells against those of your friends.

Nokia’s Ticket Rush service is closing its doors on 3rd January, with users being offered new accounts with Nokia’s partner Live Nation instead. Ticket Rush launched in 2006, and offers pre-release tickets and tickets to sold-out gigs, as well as SMS alerts when tickets go on sale.
Asus Eee PC is IN STOCK at Firebox…
We don’t normally plug individual retailers’ offers of products that are generally available, but we’ll make an exception this time. See, I know five or six people desperately trying to buy an Asus Eee PC, and having no luck – with most computer retailers saying they won’t be getting a new batch until January.
Tech firms talk 2007… Twitter-style!
Talk about best laid plans. I thought a neat way to summarise key happenings in 2007 would be to ask various tech companies for their pick of the most important consumer technology trends of the year. And what better way to do it than Twitter-style, asking for their submissions in 144 characters or less?
Long term review: Asus Eee PC
You might remember my positive review of the teeny-tiny Asus Eee PC a few weeks ago (if you don’t, here it is). When the review sample went back, I was as good as my word and bought one, seemingly just before they sold out across the UK. With that in mind, I’ve got several weeks more usage under my belt, and a few more points to add.
Cube-Kun robot can solve Rubik's Cube faster than you can
We were impressed recently by student Daniele Benedettelli’s Lego Mindstorms robot that could solve Rubik’s Cubes. But it pales in comparison to Cube-Kun, a bot created by Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
