Orange recalls Sony Ericsson W910i phones due to calling problems
Oof. There’s nothing worse than launching a hot new wannabe iPhone-killer, only to find it’s having problems, er, making and receiving phone calls. Such appears to be the case with Sony Ericsson’s new W910i, or at least the models sold on UK operator Orange.
Nokia unleashes N82 YouTube trailer
We wrote earlier about the announcement of the Nokia N82 handset, with its five-megapixel camera, Carl Zeiss optics, superfast video capture, GPS, Wi-Fi and Ovi services.
But you’re probably thinking ‘it’s all very well to read about it, but what I really want is to see some video footage of the N82 in action, preferably with a loose plotline about a stripey-jumpered bloke running around Soho before taking snaps of his friends pushing each other over beanbags in a trendy bar’.
Why having sex with robots is not Bad And Wrong
I was quite excited to see Honda’s Asimo robot at CES last year, but at no point did I feel the urge to leap on-stage and have sticky man-bot love with him. Honestly. Yet it’s those kind of couplings (well, the man-robot part, not the live on-stage at CES part) that are the subject of a book called ‘Love + Sex With Robots’.
It might be a smashed iPod embedded in resin, but it still works!
God bless artists. If they’re not cutting cows in half or flogging unmade beds, they’re smashing iPods into bits and encasing them in resin without having a negative impact on the device’s ability to turn on.
Jay-Z has 99 problems, and iTunes IS one
I thought Jay-Z had retired from the rap game to indulge his mogul instincts, but you can’t keep a retired rapper retired nowadays, so he’s back with a US chart-topping album, ‘American Gangster’. But like Radiohead and AC/DC, he’s refused to let Apple sell the album on iTunes, because he doesn’t want it to be sold as individual tracks.
Analysis: Lack of crowds doesn't mean iPhone's UK launch was a flop
So, it’s the morning after the three nights before. iPhone went on sale in the UK on Friday at 6.02pm – a slightly baffling choice of time bearing in mind that Germans could buy the device 18 hours earlier. But a common theme of reports since has been the idea that the launch was a flop, because queues weren’t as huge as expected.
UK iPhone launch: live from the Apple Store queue in Regent Street
Susi's over at the Regent Street Apple Store for tonight's UK iPhone launch, which as you're surely aware is kicking off at 6.02pm. She's been buzzing up and down the queue to see who's there, how long they've been in line, and what the hell kind of bladder control they've got. And stuff. Watch the video above to see her report.
Okay, who dressed their baby up as an iPhone for Halloween?
