That poor bloke there invented the concept of iPod back in 1979. He’s British, although his alarmingly American-sounding name – Kane Kramer – suggests otherwise. Kane lives in Hitchin.

Mr Kramer came up with the idea of a portable music player, called the IXI, when he was 23. However, technology wasn’t ready for this in 1979. Kramer’s player could only store 3.5 minutes of music on its memory chip…

This is interesting – Apple have never operated a subscription service before, and Steve Jobs has gone on record saying that he didn’t like the idea of “renting” music. You simply hook the two iPods up bottom to bottom (like a couple of mating mayflies), and as long as you have already pre-set your iPod to 'disk drive' mode, the crazy gadget allows your iPods to talk to each other and shift over it's content from one t' tother..

SEGA, maker of the legendary Super Monkey Ball series, told moneyman blog the Wall Street Journal that it’s sold 300,000 copies of Monkey Ball via the App Store in the 20 days since launch. At $9.99 a pop, that’s one hell of a cash cow for all involved.

“It gives iPhone a justifiable claim to being a viable gaming platform, ” said Simon Jeffery, president of Sega’s US arm. It also means Nintendo and Sony might…
