Wayfinder launches SpeedAlert: safety camera warning system for mobile phone
Wayfinder has announced the launch of its SpeedAlert speed detection tool, that will turn any mobile phone into a speed and safety camera detector.
The SpeedAlert software can be downloaded over-the-air to a mobile phone, with no need for a PC, and once running needs no further input from the driver.
It uses GPS to note the car’s position in relation to its database of over 17,000 safety camera locations, and can give visual and audible warnings of approaching traffic observation areas, including speed and red-light cameras.
Snooper Strabo – sat nav and enhanced speed camera warning system
Snooper does a fine line in sat nav with speed camera notification. Following on from the Syrius system, it has introduced the Strabo, which offers much the same, but with one key difference – this one warns you of mobile and temporary cameras too.
Cowon unleashes L2 GPS-equipped personal media player
We were impressed by Cowon’s iAudio D2 media player earlier this year, which shoehorned audio, video and radio into one sleek device. But now the company has trumped that with its new L2 media player, which adds GPS and digital TV reception into the equation.
ViaMichelin launch X960 and X970T personal navigation devices
ViaMichelin has unveiled its new X960 and X970T personal satellite navigation systems. They’re compact devices, with the X960 weighing in at 136g.
As well as offering simple directions, they can also be loaded up with downloadable POI (Point of Interest) packs which can guide the user around interesting sites in the locality.
In addition, the X970T features free real time traffic information and a Bluetooth hands free function allowing incoming phone calls to be answered by touching the screen.
RAC unveils range of sat nav devices
Well, the AA has GPS on the market, so it’s no surprise to see a range of sat nav systems from the RAC.
