LG has gone mental and made a TV out of gold
As if TVs weren’t expensive enough already. The new LG home theatre system is plastered with 24 carat gold, and is the most needless, pointless and overpriced innovation in home cinema since Blu-ray and HD-DVD came along.
The ludicrously OTT 71″ set, which uses PDP technology to display its HD pictures…
BenQ releases three new high definition home cinema projectors
BenQ has announced the launch of three new high definition video projectors in the UK. The W10000, W9000 and W500.
W500
The W500 provides a 5,000:1 contrast ratio, features HQV (Hollywood Quality Video), operates at 28dB, and can project 720p content. It also offers upscaling of standard definition content.
Its Multi-Dimensional Diagonal Filtering technology should prevent ghosting, and it has horizontal and vertical lens shifting, and “professional inputs” – presumably / hopefully this includes HDMI.
It retails for £699.

Philips unveil HTS8100 SoundBar Ambisound "one box" speaker system
Philips has announced its new HTS8100 SoundBar Ambisound system, which claims to give realistic surround sound from a single speaker bar.
Front and rear-channel signals are emitted by the six drivers mounted in the sound bar, enveloping the listener irrespective of their location. It doesn’t rely upon sound reflections, so listeners will get the full surround sound effect wherever they sit and whatever the size and shape of the room, providing that they’re within range of the speakers.
The Arcam DiVA AVR280 Cinema & Music Receiver
See that product name? Has a small ‘i’ in it. Now that’s cool. The price is perhaps a little less-cool at £1200, but you’re getting one very important thing – loads and loads of little silver buttons.
A projector for £9,999 – the SIM2 'HT3000E' is a, cough, steal
Better add this to your wish list, unless Roman Abramovich is reading Tech Digest again, in which case I’m willing to bet he’s got one of these SIM2 projectors in every room.
Rolling in at a cost of a mere £9,999 each, the HT3000E delivers 1080p resolution, renders one billion colours and can project up to 30ft. It’s apparently the only ‘full’ hi-def projector which offers that BrilliantColor…
CES 2007: Sharp's gaming LCD HDTVs
I think the current success of high definition televisions, especially outside the US where we already enjoy an at least semi-decent picture resolution anyway, has a lot to do with the new high defintion games consoles: the Xbox 360…
