Though it may seem a long way away yet, the Spring sunshine will soon be creeping around the corner. What better way to ring in the warmer seasons then than with this solar-powered Bluetooth speakerphone? The Scosche-built solCHAT features an…
Nav-Mat: the latest superhero?
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s….the Nav-Mat – the latest “crime-fighting device”.
This is one of the strangest satnav accessories that I’ve come across. Its makers claim that “tell-tale sucker marks on windscreens” are one of the major reasons for satnav theft.
So they’ve come up with the Nav-Mat, which basically looks like a beanbag for your satnav. It sits on the dashboard, therefore preventing those “tell-tale sucker marks”. Apparently “the contoured and weighted, anti-skid underside stops the device from sliding and, unlike traditional window mountings, leaves no suction marks on the windscreen”.
It’s available here for a bargain £19.99 (plus £5 p&p). Alternatively, buy some window wipes here for 99p.
10 accessories Nintendo should add to the Wii
The Nintendo Wii is an insanely popular gaming console, but there’s always room for improvement, right?
Here are ten bits of kit Nintendo could add to he Wii console to make it even more versatile – ranging from the fairly sensible to the downright weird.
What would you add to the Wii?
1. Bluetooth Headset
OK, so this one is pretty sensible, and you’d think would be fairly easy for Nintendo to create and market.
I know there’s the Wii Speak, but perhaps you’d like to have a more private conversation with someone about subjects more personal than Animal Crossing.
2. WiiPhone
A few years ago we didn’t think Apple would venture into the mobile phone market, but it happened.
Nintendo has denied that it will ever get into telephony, but it wouldn’t be hard to hook up a telephone interface to the Wii and use the controller to dial your numbers.
After all, it’s likely that not everyone you want to talk to has a Wii, and it’s just so much effort to pick up the real phone when you’re constantly attached to the Wii.
5 Best and 5 Worst iAccessories for iPods and iPhones
If there's one thing the world probably doesn't need more of, it is media studies graduates. If there's two, it is probably media studies graduates and iPod cases.
There's so many hanging around (iPod cases, that is, though there's probably a fair few unemployed media graduates too) because the iPod has been so ludicrously successful, and a "product eco-system" has built up around it, and other companies have released companion products to try and make some money of their own out of it. Apple don't mind it either, as it expands the functionality of their products and they get to license a "compatible with iPod" logo and rake in the cash for doing little or no work. It's just like nature: the parasites and the host have developed a symbiotic relationship.
But with so many billions of parasites to choose from… what accessories should you get for your iPod? I present to you, the top five best and worst iAccessories…
Four way Wii remote charger on its way
You can complain all you want about the Wii being just a party gaming machine that doesn’t cater to the ‘core gamers, but at the end of the day it is a GREAT party gaming machine that doesn’t cater to the ‘core gamers. However if you want to have a proper Wii party, you’ll need three other noobs a full collection of Wii remotes. The trouble is, they will invariably run out of batteries mid Kart race and you’ll be left desperately searching for fresh ones inside old TV remotes and that ‘massage’ device your wife keeps.
Nintendo upgrading Wii controllers with Wii MotionPlus accessory
Phenomenally successful though the Nintendo Wii is, it certainly isn’t without its own share of niggles. Among them, perhaps at the forefront of ‘core’ players’ minds, is the fact that the motion sensing Wii remote is, well, not all that hot at sensing motion.
Sony and Microsoft in talks over 360 Blu-ray add-on?
Sony and Microsoft are now engaged in talks over the possibility of offering a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360, according to one senior executive.
This certainly isn’t the first time we’ve heard such rumours. Long before the demise of HD DVD, shadowy unnamed Microsoft types were heard to say that a Blu-ray alternative to the HD DVD add-on would be highly possible. With HD DVD out of the picture, there’s now a good reason for Microsoft to find an alternative accessory to sell to 360 owners.

CES 2008: 10-in-1 Wii sports family pack
From the makers of the Wii boxing gloves comes the 10-in1 sports family pack, containing pretty much all the cheap knock-off Wii accessories you could possibly wish for. Sure, they may not be of particularly stunning quality – as the crazy angle of the official photos makes seems to imply – but just look how many you get in there!
Be the king of the jungle with Jac Zagoory's animal staplers at Liberty
Staplers are a necessity for every office desk, mine resides just to the right of my computer monitor. However I’m willing to bet that none of ours come even close to Jac Zagoory’s unusual animal designs.
Hailing from New York, but being stocked in London’s Liberty store, the functional staplers are made from cast pewter…
