Asus planning 12" S101 high-end ultra-thin laptop

ASUS-S101.jpg

Originally, the S101 wasn’t planned to be part of Asus’ Eee PC netbook range, but it was shoehorned in at the last minute because the company wanted a high-end Eee. The S101 features a 10.2″ screen, but it looks like the Taiwanese company are planning an ultra-thin 12″ model, too.

The new machine will have a 16:10 aspect ratio, and very similar specs to the S101. ‘Sources’ reckon that the machine could be out as soon as before the end of the year. Thankfully, though, the company aren’t planning to stick an Eee badge on this one – the company president has said that he won’t call anything with a larger-than-10″ screen a netbook.

Asus isn’t just there for the small and cheap things in life. It also creates monster power-laptops that you might think twice about carrying about with you for fear of dislocating a shoulder.

Like this thing here, the B80A, a new prestige, top-of-the-line model for the power business user who is buying things on expenses so doesn’t mind how much it costs.

Here is how Asus describes the needs of the business user…

Asus to launch Android-powered smartphone

asus-android-smartphone.jpg

What’s the betting Asus are going to call this the EeePhone? Fairly high, I’d imagine, given their tendency to slap the Eee label on everything they produce. The Taiwanese company recently brought out a Windows Mobile-powered smartphone, but this one will run Google’s new mobile OS – Android.

Initially the phones will likely be only for sale in Taiwan, but Asus have mentioned the prospect of bringing them abroad. No more details as yet, but when some more surface, we’ll be sure to share them. It’s good to see more manufacturers making use of the Android platform.

Another Asus smartphone on the way?

asus_ts.jpg

Rumour has it that Taiwanese gadget powerhouse Asus are planning another smartphone – and this comes literally only days after it unveiled the P552w to the world. The rumour seems pretty solid too, on account of there being leaked pictures of the device. Further rumours suggesting that the Asus factory is expanding by an area the size of Wales every day to accommodate Asus’s massive and growing product line are said to be wide of the mark…
