Gibson releasing free limited edition high-def guitar album online
Gibson Guitar has announced that it’s releasing a music album, featuring performances by some of the world’s best guitarists, exclusively for download from HDTracks.com.
Gibson Presents: Hot Tones in High-Definition will be available for just sixty days from 6th October (yesterday, by my calculations, though the web site still lists it as “available for download soon”) in a variety of high quality audio formats including uncompressed AIFF and FLAC and 320kbps MP3, all DRM-free…
IFA 2008: Harman/Kardon MS 100 all-in-one audio system
In stark contrast to the ugly ugly speakers we saw earlier, this all-in-one audio unit is considerably prettier. All-in-one isn’t an empty promise, either. It’s got an iPod dock, a CD player, FM radio, speakers, and a clock radio. Basically, sit this on your bedside table and you’ll never be wanting of audio entertainment ever again…
IFA 2008: Logitech unveil Squeezebox Boom, Digital Video System and Z-500 wireless speakers
Three radically different products, one post. I call that a challenge. Logitech have just unveiled a host of new products aimed at wildly different markets. They have just one thing in common. They’re all actually really useful, in their own ways.
First up is the Squeezebox Boom. Now that’s a fantastic name. I’m sitting here saying it right now, and enjoying every moment of it. It’s a network music player, meaning that it’ll let you listen to your music collection from anywhere in the house. Just plug it into the power, give it your wireless network’s password, and you’re off…

ACS's T range of professional in-ear monitors
If you’re after some serious in-ear audio gear — the sort that professional musicians are likely to use — then Advanced Communications Solutions may have a solution for you.
Their T range of in-ear monitors, which have actually been around for nearly a decade but are still well worth mentioning, include the flagship T1s, plus T2s and T3s, which are slightly more affordable and aimed at the rest of us.
Custom moulded to fit the contour of the individual’s ears, the T1s feature three-way balanced armature transducers built in to the custom silicone earpieces, for an exceptional sound experience. The cable is reinforced with Kevlar for extra strength, and it’s an ideal monitor for a stage performer…

Englishman develops 60,000 volt plasma arc loudspeaker
Reported simply as “Richard from England”, one man has built his own plasma speaker, which uses tungsten-tipped electrodes and 60,000 volts of electricity to produce a large plasma arc.
A by-product of plasma arcs is ozone, which can be deadly in large quantities, but Richard reckons that the prototype produces none at all.
Glow away in blue with this USB LED light tube speaker
There’s no shortage of things you can plug in to a spare USB port these days, but this looks a little more classy than a humping dog, and it plays your tunes, too.
Brando’s USB LED Light Tube Speaker offers stereo sound, a built-in blue LED tube (funny that), and is powered from the USB port, so no need for mains power. Use the audio lead to plug in to PC, laptop, or MP3 player, and you’re away…
Alcoholicism and audioholism collide with LG's HT762TZR 5.1 audio system
LG is targeting this 5.1 audio system at those of us who enjoy a tipple at any time of the day, and fancy having products name after champagne and red wine.
The HT762TZR has 5.1 channels – but the main appeal, admittedly, is the champagne glass-shaped speakers and red wine colour. Quite Similar to previous audio systems such as the HT953TVP, it has a total power of 700W, plus…
