Hands-free kit that clips over your rear-view mirror

RXS:Redshift sounds like a racing game, but in actual fact it’s a company who make hands-free car kits, and they’ve made the rather genius “Bluetooth Rear-View Mirror Hands-Free Car Kit” pictured above, that does exactly what it says on the tin. It clips onto your rear-view mirror, and there’s absolutely no wiring required.

It has some quite nifty features, too. The mic and speaker are integrated into the plastic, and the caller ID gets displayed on the mirror so that you don’t have to take your eyes off the road to see who’s calling. It also comes with a bluetooth headset that you can use if you’re still on the phone when you leave the car.

“Bluehoo” is an application that will run on mobile phones and Windows Mobile and will scan for other users who are also running the application – who they insist on referring to as “hoos” – over bluetooth. Apparently when you find someone else you’ll be able to view their profile and stuff.

Bluetooth techonology doesn’t all have to be all about handsfree kits and trinkets for mobile phones. No, indeed something as simple as a household plug can bred with the short range wireless system to produce the Plogg, which is used to monitor the energy consumption of your household appliances and, eventually, even prevent blackouts, but I’ll allow the nice man to explain…

Sony has decided that it’s time to introduce some more headphones and a Bluetooth headset to the market, and while it’s hard to get excited by either Sony’s product naming convention or the actual designs, they do at least provide an alternative brand for the likes of “Which?” magazine to compare.

First up comes the MDR-EX33LP and MDR-EX35LP in-ear headphones, described as “fun” and “affordable”. The “33” series comes in five high-fashion colours, and the “55” in three colours, and both feature hybrid silicone earbuds for a secure fit, a 9mm EX driver unit for wide dynamic range and deep bass, and cord adjuster/slider to stop the wires getting caught up…
