OPINION: Still searching for reasons to switch to Google Chrome
Yesterday – and this is not a joke about how sad my life is, it’s the honest-to-Betsy truth – I decided to make the switch and start using Google Chrome as my default browser.
I’d decided the night before, in fact. I was, sadly, really quite excited about the prospect of turning over a new leaf or, to update the phrase, starting a new session. Doing a fresh install of my life and switching from Firefox to Chrome.
I like Chrome. It works, it’s already imported…

GTA IV sightseeing – how close is Liberty City to the actual Big Apple?
Do you know GTA IV’s Liberty City inside-out yet? Have you at least memorised where your house is and where all the strip clubs are? Also, have you ever spent £1200 on flying to New York for a weekend, just so you can save about £25 on buying socks and pants really cheap in GAP on Fifth Avenue?
If you answered “SHIT YES!” to both of the above, you will like this very much – it’s some guy’s collection of photos of New York compared to screenshots of GTA IV’s NYC-inspired Liberty City. See what is real and what is fiction over on his Flickr page.
NYC and LC are “pretty close” it would appear, although the skyline’s seriously…

VIDEO: What's best? Working from home? Or working in the office?
Thanks to working for the very forward-thinking and modernist Shiny Media, I’m often afforded the luxury of being able to work from home.
But is it all it’s cracked up to be? Is the relaxed nature of home working beneficial, or do you end up slacking off more? Does the stricter office environment force you to work harder, or does the diversion of other people actually slow you down? What’s best? Home? Or office?
Let’s find out via a video comparison!
MWC 2008: Nokia N96 versus Nokia N95
With Nokia finally announcing the N96, it’s time to take a look at what new features they’ve added since the N95.
Dimensions
Boring but necessary are dimensions. The N96 isn’t going to take up much more room in your pocket than the N95 — it’s marginally bigger and slightly heavier, but we’ll forgive that for the extra features.
UK broadband prices at all-time low, levelling off
According to the latest survey by price comparison website uSwitch.com has found that average broadband prices have dropped by over one-third in four years. However, that’s your lot, apparently.
The bods at uSwitch reckon that no-one should now be paying more than £20 per month for standalone broadband. However, it can still be quite confusing to work out exactly what you’re getting when signing up for a service, particularly as some require a BT line, some come with other bundled services, others give you money off if you subscribe to other services, and they all seem to claim different “top speeds” and “fair usage” policies.
OPINION: One MacBook Air or SIX Asus Eee PCs?
Gary Cutlack writes…
You could have one MacBook Air – UK price around £1200 – or you could get SIX Asus Eee PCs and leave them dotted about the house for the ultimate in connected futuristic living spaces.
Or you could just get one Asus Eee PC and have a grand left over to spend on doing up the house or buying a new TV. Or two new TVs. A 40″ for the lounge, a 32″ for the bedroom and an Eee PC. Or perhaps a different combination? Maybe you’d prefer two super-powerful Dell XPS laptops for the price of one MacBook Air? Or four decent Toshibas with the same spec only in slightly fatter cases?
Xbox 360 Core drops to same price as Wii in Australia
Those Aussies sure are a strange bunch, I should know, I was born there! The latest What The Hell Were They Thinking?! story comes from WiiWii, who are reporting that the recent price drop in Australia of the Xbox 360 Core model is now the exact same price as the Nintendo Wii. Whoops…
