World's smallest PC unveiled – the teeny, tiny, Compulab fit-PC Slim
“Honey, have you seen my PC?” “Did you check down the back of the sofa?”
That’s the refrain that’ll echo through the home offices of suburban Britain in the near future if this tiny, tiny PC takes off. This PC, no bigger than the palm of your hand, actually has surprisingly reasonable specs behind it. A 500MHz AMD Geode processor, upto 512MB of RAM, ethernet, Three USB ports, Wifi and a 60GB hard drive are available at maximum spec. Oh, and it runs Linux, obviously, though Windows XP is an option…
IFA 2008: Harman/Kardon GLA-55 loudspeakers
There are two basic things you can rate speakers on. The most important is obviously how they sound. Harman-Kardon have a great track record in this area – I expect the GLA-55s sound amazing. They’ve got a 3.5″ mini-jack connection – designed for your PC or for an MP3 player – and they’re 56 Watts, so you should be able to crank them a fair bit…
A computer that was once a barbecue – if only it still was
As you can probably tell from the picture, this rather odd computer is made out of a barbecue. There doesn’t appear to be a great deal of point to the venture – the barbecue no longer functions in the traditional manner, so it’s not like the user can play GTA whilst attending to the sausages. That would actually be a rather useful device – hardcore gamers probably miss out on hundreds of meals a year whilst halfway through a game, so it would be rather useful if they could ‘game and grill’ simultaneously…

Nokia has launched a brand new competition page that will see 96 lucky winners get their mitts on a N96 phone MULTIMEDIA COMPUTER that strongly resembles a mobile phone ahead of the crowd.
Computer WINS BIG in poker tournament
Poker-playing computer Polaris kicked the bottoms of several top poker players last week, raking in a profit of some $150,000 for its developers at the University of Alberta.
The human players, with frankly stupid names like Nick “stoxtrader” Grudzien, Matt “Hoss_TBF” Hawrilenko and IJay “doughnutz” Palansky, won two games, drew one and lost three to Polaris, which has…
Geek Fetish:French-maid hips and thighs PC case
My first reaction at seeing this was *facepalm*. My second was to be slightly concerned that I do know guys who would be seriously tempted by this amalgamation of their beloved PCs (who all have names like Yuki, and Sayoto) and the bottom half of an anime maid. (If you looked up *facepalm* you’re probably not one of them)
Swedish kids embarrassed by dirty dads' online habits… mums too
Children in Sweden are embarrassed and concerned about what their parents get up to on the Internet, according to a report from the Barnens Rätt i Samhället (Children’s Rights in Society) organisation.
A common concern is that of dads who spend their time on porn sites, or who flirt (or worse) in chat rooms.
“I read his MSN conversation log. I was just curious. And then I saw that he was talking to, like, young girls. And the disgusting part is that he’s 53!” said one teenage boy…
Japanese technology can measure your smile… cheer up!
Possibly a predecessor of the computer which can measure attractiveness, new Japanese technology is able to measure someone’s smile on a scale of nought to 100.
Firstly, video images are scanned to detect faces, and then the computer analyses the curves of the lips, eye movement, and other facial characteristics, to decide how much a person is smiling…
Cybernet's Zero-footprint PC is Amiga throwback
Sick of the big beige box on the floor? With Cybernet’s Zero-footprint PC, you don’t need one…
LINDY launches small, stylish KVM switch for dual computer users
In my mind, KVM switches were always the domain of the sysadmins in the IT department who had two PCs on the go but only enough room on their desk for one keyboard, mouse, and monitor.
Now, though, dual computer use is becoming popular at home, too, and desk space is often just as precious. Enter LINDY’s KVM switch, a modern, compact switch that allows any Mac or PC combo to be used with a single keyboard and mouse, together with a DVI monitor connection…
