Wanting a slim compact camera? Nikon's S52 and S52c should do the trick
In addition to the P80 I just mentioned, Nikon has also designed the S52 and S52c compact cameras.
Shown above, the S52 will be available in plum black or silver, and features a 9.0-megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom with a NIKKOR lens, and extremely high ISO of 3,200. Yes, I said 3,200. With its contoured body and periscoped lens, it’s very pocket-friendly yet still manages a 3″ LCD screen….
Nikon whacks an 18x zoom on the P80 and impresses hugely
Nikon doesn’t just make fancy D-SLRs, you know. The P80 has just been announced from the maestros of photography, with features that’ll blow your mind.
With an 18x zoom, the photos I took when trying it several days ago were amazing, you can see some of them below the jump. It features a 10-megapixel sensor, image stabilisation and image-shift Vibration Reduction technology for shaky hands.
The LCD monitor measures 2.7″, and has…

Freesat launched on 6th May.
This FAQ was last updated on 6th May 2008.

freesat is a subscription-free satellite service due to launch in the UK in Spring 2008.

Four HD channels will arrive in time for the 2012 Olympics, says airwave police Ofcom
The slow, painful, expensive trek toward free-to-air HD TV channels took another tiny little baby step forward today, with wireless data chiefs Ofcom declaring that we’ll definitely have HD TV through our telly aerials by 2012.
Previously Ofcom and the major broadcasters signed a “non-binding memorandum of understanding” stating that they were all well up for it in principle – now it’s 100% definitely happening. No more massively expensive Sky HD subscription required!
A total of four HD…
Nine in ten UK homes now have digital TV
According to last week’s Ofcom report, nearly 90% of British homes now have access to some form of multichannel, digital TV on their main set.
As the digital switchover continues region by region over the next four years, and thanks to the fact that it’s fairly difficult to buy a TV that’s not digital ready now, be it standard definition or HD ready, it seems that most of us have got the message that it’s good to go digital…
Shakespeare plays to be digitised and published online
A joint initiative by The Bodleian Library in Oxford and Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington DC will see all 75 editions of William Shakespeare’s plays printed before 1641 digitised and made available online.
Previously only available to scholars, these quartos — early printed editions of Shakespeare’s plays — provide evidence of what he actually wrote and what appeared on the early English stage, where original manuscripts haven’t survived…
More details announced about Samsung's HD digital camera, the NV24HD
Some more news regarding those HD digital cameras that Samsung announced back in January at CES, the NV24HD has shown up on the pages of AVING, who are claiming the model will have a 2.5″ AMOLED screen.
That’s the camera, not that insanely good-looking model holding the camera. I bet his AMOLED is more than a couple inches long. Ahem.
Anyway, it’s got a 10.2-megapixel sensor, plus a 24mm ultra optical wide 3.6x zoom lens. It can record video at 30fps, in 1280 x 720 resolution…
Shiny Video Preview: Sony α700, α350 and α200 D-SLRs
This morning I went down to the Sony Alpha exhibition, where climber and photographer Mike Robertson’s photos from his UK tower-scaling stunts are on show to the general public as of tomorrow.
He may’ve taken them on the α700 D-SLR, but at £999, perhaps you and I better look at the α200 and α350 instead, which are all shown…
Samsung announces their 10.2-megapixel L210 digital camera
Not too much information about this point and clicker from Samsung, but it had me at ‘oooh that’s a nice shade of red’.
Yes, sometimes it’s as easy as that to impress me. With a 10.2-megapixel sensor and ISO of 1600, it has a 3x optical zoom which doesn’t particularly thrill, plus the all-important Digital Image Stabilisation, Intelligent Face Recogntion, and a…
Call Oliver's Army! Elvis Costello is shunning the CD and favouring the vinyl/digital download method
Cor, speaking of craggy musicians with plentiful ear hair, Elvis Costello hasn’t gone quite as far as Billy Corgan with his next musical release, but his announcement regarding Momofuku is still a lot more radical than his conforming peers’ business models.
His first album since 2004 will be released only on vinyl, ignoring the popular yet slightly defunct CD format, and will contain a code which’ll allow for a digital download of the album…
