RUMOUR: Amazon MP3 on the gPhone
There’s a rumour floating around the interweb that Amazon’s MP3 store will be available on Google’s forthcoming mobile phone, which there’ll be an announcement on later today. If it’s true, it would be a powerful boot in the face to Apple, Nokia and Sony Ericsson, all of whom have either launched, or are preparing, mobile music stores.

Google rivals shrug off Open Handset Alliance announcement
Reuters has a really interesting article following up on Google’s launch yesterday of the Open Handset Alliance, in which they’ve talked to some of the companies who weren’t on board for the launch.

Google appears to have officially scuppered those Gphone rumours, with the announcement of Android, a new open mobile platform to be offered through a body of more than 30 handset manufacturers and operators called the Open Handset Alliance.
