Celebrate the Halo 3 launch in a week with some personalised Master Chief M&Ms
Or any launch, for that matter. I’ve just discovered that on the M&Ms website, chocolate-fans can upload graphics, logos or messages, pick between 22 colours, and order any amount they want. With prices starting at just $2.90 for a 1.75oz bag with a bow…
The GPS parachuting helmet that makes you look like Master Chief from Halo 3
Check out ParaNav, the new helmet-mounted GPS navigation system for parachutists from Rockwell Collins. It’s also a flight management system with built-in head-up display, helping you fly to your planned landing destination.
Apparently it works at 28,000 feet and temperatures of -20 degrees. However, this ain’t for weekend parachutists: it’s meant for military types. All I can think when I look at it is ‘Master Chief’ though – perhaps the designers were big Halo fans. Or perhaps Halo’s developers are parachute buffs, of course.
Wax Master Chief invading London
Halo 3’s Master Chief will be storming London this year, although he won’t be particularly terrifying due to being made out of wax and requiring wheelchair assistance to get up stairs.
The wax model is 7′ 2″ tall, which we can only presume is meant to be life sized…
Sony staffer fingered for negative Halo 3 Wikipedia edits
Life’s got very entertaining since the development of technology allowing you to track who’s been making what edits to Wikipedia entries. Sony is the latest company to end up with egg on its face, after some negative edits to the Halo 3 page were traced back to its Sony Liverpool studio.
Halo 3 has already sold a million copies
A cheerful Microsoft reckons that on American pre-orders alone, the latest in the Halo mega-franchise has already sold more than one million copies.
As well as this advance blockbuster warning, Microsoft also had its world-spamming Halo 3 publicity plans revealed on the Wall Street Journal, which also points out the awesome fact that video games hauled in $31.6 billion last year…
Peter Moore of Microsoft *really* knows how to launch the Halo 3 Xbox 360 console
When Peter Moore, Head of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business division, launched the Halo 3 themed Xbox 360 console at E3 yesterday, I bet he didn’t expect long periods of silence and even laughter when doing so. Poor chap…
Microsoft signs deal for Halo 3 action figures
The long wait is on for Halo fans following the closure of Microsoft’s recent online beta. Halo 3 doesn’t come out until 25th September on Xbox 360. However, here’s some corking news to ease the frustration: McFarlane Toys (of Spawn fame) has bagged the official licence to bring out official Halo action figures.
Get your Halo 3 Zune now (if you're in the US)
Oh woe. Woe! Us Brits can’t buy a Zune yet, and it’s still unclear whether we’ll be able to this side of Christmas. For those of us who think Microsoft’s personal media player could – eventually – provide some much-needed competition for Apple’s iPod, the ongoing delay in bringing Zune across the Atlantic is frustrating.
Tech Digest Pick of the Week: 30 technology stories you should read
It’s been another busy week in the world of technology, with new phones, HDTV developments, and all manner of Web 2.0 malarkey. The stories below are my pick of the most important (ok, and occasionally the most silly) stuff we’ve covered this week.
