Featuring a slot loading optical disk drive, the Eee Box 1501 is small enough to be mounted on the back of a monitor or flatscreen TV.
LaCie unveil LaCinema Classic HD media player and server
The LaCinema Classic HD is set to feature some pretty attractive functions by the looks of things. Giving change back out of £200, it's not too badly priced either.
Eee Box gets an upgrade, and HDMI-out
The humble Eee Box B202, which we liked last year, has been granted an upgrade by the technology gods. It’s now the Eee Box 206, and comes with an HDMI-out slot, meaning that you can plug this baby into your TV and watch high-definition content. It even comes with a remote control.
Specs-wise, it’s got an Atom processor, 160GB of hard disc space, 1GB of RAM and Wi-Fi. It comes with Windows XP, but I’d advise replacing that with Linux or Windows 7 swiftly. Don’t replace it with Vista though, whatever you do. For that, Asus is asking £309, which isn’t too bad for an HD-capable machine.
What do you reckon? Would you recommend this for a parent considering plugging a PC into their TV? Or something else? Share in the comments.

Turn your PC into a home cinema with a USB to HDMI dongle
Many laptops these days are starting to arrive with HDMI ports and Blu-ray drives, so you can use your new laptop to hook up your massive 40″ telly and enjoy HD content via your PC. Many people play PC games on massive monitors, too. But what do you do if you don’t have a graphics card with a HDMI output?
You buy one of these. Plug one end into a spare USB port and the other into your TV, and voila – a 720p, or 1280 x 720, display. It’ll take care of the sound too, via the HDMI cable. Best of all, you’re not limited to just one of these – you can plug in as many as you have USB ports. Fancy rocking seven in a row? 8960 x 720 resolution!

CES 2009: LG introduce Wireless HDMI and 3D chips
LG didn’t have the most dynamic of press conferences, but one thing that did come out was the death of wires (expect some kind of wire-based massacre this CES 2009). They’re integrating Wireless HDMI into their upcoming 2009 LCD product ranges, as well as their projectors.

Digital Camera of the Hour: GE E1050TW with HDMI output for HD Ready lounge synching
Here’s another marginally different image-capturing box to save your brain from having to do any remembering of what things look like. This one’s called an E1050TW. It is not a particularly romantic or evocative name, although maker GE tells us the TW at the end stands for “Touch and Wide” – because there’s a 3″ touchscreen round the back instead of your usual buttons.
Here’s what the front looks like.
Inside the box there’s a 10.1megapixel sensor, mechanical bits to support a 5x optical zoom and image stabilisation…
Two new Humax Freeview+ PVR set-top boxes out today
It’s summer! Or so I have discovered upon leaving Scotland for the weekend! And that means it’s a great time to go outside and not gawp aimlessly at the gogglebox. That’s why you need a PVR – else, who knows, they might change the entire cast of ‘Stenders and you’d never know how it happened. Handily, Humax has just launched two new PVRs with built-in twin Freeview tuners.
