The slow, painful, expensive trek toward free-to-air HD TV channels took another tiny little baby step forward today, with wireless data chiefs Ofcom declaring that we’ll definitely have HD TV through our telly aerials by 2012.
Previously Ofcom and the major broadcasters signed a “non-binding memorandum of understanding” stating that they were all well up for it in principle – now it’s 100% definitely happening. No more massively expensive Sky HD subscription required!

ViewSonic has announced three additions to their Professional Series of LCD monitors.
The VP950b 4:3 aspect ratio 19-inch model offers 1,280×1,024 native resolution, 2ms response time, 280 nits brightness, and 2,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.
The VP2250wb 22-inch widescreen model (pictured) ups the resolution to 1,680×1,050, keeps the decent 2ms response time, and offers 3,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio.

Dell to offer Inspiron 1525 notebook with Blu-ray drive

Microsoft condemns Blu-ray to the tech trash can

Now that the dramatic climax to the HD format war is past, Toshiba is starting to pick up the pieces. Samsung pulls plug on BD-UP5500 dual-format high definition player
Samsung has announced that they won’t be releasing their second-generation HD DVD / Blu-ray combo player — the BD-UP5500 — after all.
Though Samsung have already said they favour Blu-ray, this is the first solid announcement that they’re no longer pushing their hybrid players.
