HP announces Mini 1000 and Compaq Mini 700 netbooks, including designer option
Just a couple of days after the leak, HP has announced details of the Mini 1000, in both standard and designer editions, as well as the Compaq Mini 700.
The HP Mini 1000, at 25.2mm thin and weighing 1.1kg, features a 10.2-inch widescreen display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 processor, either 8GB or 16GB SSD, webcam/mic, WLAN, and Bluetooth. Depending on operating system configuration, you can choose from 512MB or 1GB of RAM (XP Home) or 1GB/2GB (MIE Linux).
Bundled with the hardware is HP’s new Mobile Internet Experience software and HP MediaStyle, for “one-stop entertainment through a single interface”. In other words, it’s a dashboard interface which lets you play music, watch videos, visit favourite web sites, read email, and so on. Great for the everyday consumer, perhaps, but those wanting a stripped down netbook might want to turn off the “always on” applications…
HP Mini 1000 netbook info leaks
It’s not loads of info, but a few bits have leaked out about a new HP netbook, called the Mini 1000. It follows the Mini-note from earlier this year…
HP to release touchscreen iPAQ smartphone for consumers
Following Apple’s lead in the “laptop companies starting to make phones” stakes, the Wall Street Journal are reporting that HP are going to launch a Windows Mobile 6.1-powered smartphone in Europe within the next two months…
Shiny Video Preview: HP HDX16 and HDX18 Premium Laptops
As well as getting a look at the HP TouchSmart IQ800 yesterday, I also got to have a sneaky peek at HP’s new series of HDX Premium laptops, and gosh they’re swish. Very sleek design, Apple-style light-up logo, titanium casing, and swooshes across the trackpad below the keyboard. Beautiful…
Shiny Video Preview: HP TouchSmart IQ800
Yesterday I got a hands-on preview of the latest TouchSmart model from HP, following the IQ500 earlier this year. It’s huge and lovely, but a little bit limited in terms of software. Watch the video above. That means there’s now two TouchSmart models available – the whopping 25.5″ beast in the video, and a smaller 22″ panel. Both are all-in-one units…
HP planning a cheaper 2nd gen Eee PC rival
HP’s current Mini Note apparently missed the meeting where the ULPC acronym was explained, specifically the ‘UL’ part, and is one of the most expensive netbooks on the market. That hasn’t really made much of an impact on sales, apparently, but HP is now keen to introduce a new ‘economy’ device for those who didn’t want to make the stretch to the existing 2133 model.
Shiny Video Preview: HP 2133 Mini-Note sub-notebook
Dan and I may’ve fondled the Acer Aspire One last week, but over in Berlin, Lucy got to grips with HP’s Eee PC-like offering, the 2133 Mini-Note.
Weighing 1.19kg, the screen measures 8.9″, and it runs on either Linux or Windows XP/Vista. Check out what Lucy has to say about it, in the video above…
Shiny Video Preview: HP Voodoo Envy 133 notebook
Al’s only just finished telling you about the Voodoo Envy 133 laptop from HP, however Lucy’s one step ahead of him, as she’s just filmed a video preview of what’s being claimed as the ‘world’s thinnest laptop’, bumping Apple’s MacBook Air off its throne…
HP hopes Voodoo magic will defeat MacBook Air – world's new thinnest laptop
While most of the computing world is dedicating itself to creating the smallest possible laptops from baked bean cans and bits of string, it’s easy to forget that there is still a market for full sized notebooks that look good and weigh next to nothing. Hewlett Packard hasn’t though; it has just launched the Voodoo Envy 133.
At 0.7-inches thick and sporting a 13.3″ display, there obviously one target in mind: the MacBook air. The Envy has a price tag of $2099, which also puts it in the same ballpark as the Air, and it offers the same choice of 1.6 or 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo CPUs and 64GB SSD or 80GB HDDs. The Air, however, is just a shade thicker, at 0.76-inches thick…
HP adds dv4, dv5 and dv7 notebooks to Pavilion range, the former with integrated 3G
We didn’t get any new MacBooks this week, however HP has announced plans to add three new consumer notebooks to its Pavilion range – the dv4 (measuring 14.1″), dv5 (measuring 15.4″), and dv7 (17″) which are all pictured above.
The three models all feature AMD or Intel Centrino 2 processors, plus high-speed eSATA interfaces. Most notable however, is the dv4 which has integrated WWAN for 3G internet connectivity, the first consumer laptop to do so, with the HDD starting at 120GB. Coated in a “sleek, liquid-metallic Mesh Imprint finish” with “magical chrome” touch controls, you can choose to add Blu-ray optical drives, TV…
