Stay on the bleeding edge of fashion with Nike and KDDi Communications' blood-red shoes
A product is never just a single product these days, with convergence being more popular than this year than touch-screens, believe it or not. Just look at how many applications and features the most popular touch-screen product of all time is…
Nike is making leaps and bounds in the tech-convergence field, with their Nike + iPod shoes, and now their collaboration with Japan’s…
Hitachi unveils your future desk mate
Meet EMIEW 2. EMIEW stands for Excellent Mobility and Interactive Existence as Workmate, which is a nightmare for the poor thing to type in every morning when it logs onto the network, so EMIEW 2 it is.
EMIEW is an office worker robot, which was recently demonstrated at Hitachi’s Research Lab. It has the ability to (brace yourself) guide visitors…
Puzzle your groupies with ThinkGeek's Air Musician Virtual Guitar watch
It’s no Guitar Hero II: Legends of Rock, but the Air Musician Virtual Guitar over at ThinkGeek will have you belting out the notes in no time.
It’s dead easy to use too, by the looks of things. All you need to do is strap it to your wrist, select a song, and off you go. With…
The… Amazon… Shipping Box… Robot…
Your company is NOTHING in Japan without a friendly mascot. Here’s Amazon’s attempt at hitting the big time – the Amazon Shipping Box Robot. It is the most incredible thing you will see on the internet today, as long as you haven’t been Googling “Gemma Atkinson bra” for the last hour with Safe Search turned off.
This is such a staggering toy we have NO OPTION but to break out the full-width image embedding code. You know it’s an important thing when that happens.
OCD sufferers, rejoice: ThinkGeek now stocking the electronic bubble wrap popping keychain!
Remember that awesome electronic bubble-wrap popper game from Bandai, the Mugen Puchi Puchi, which up until now was only available in Japan? Time to head on over to ThinkGeek, and purchase one, as the US purveyors of electronic and geek tat have come to the rescue yet again.
In case you need a reminder, the keychain device contains eight rubbery buttons in the shape of bubble-wrap bubbles. When…
NTT DoCoMo provides Japanese users with mobile earthquake warnings
Not content with blowing my mind with its vision of a 4G future, NTT DoCoMo has just announced a bunch of new handsets and services for Japan. The most intriguing: an earthquake warning system for phons called Area Mail.
Sorry, pervert: Anti-groping mobile phone application now available in Japan
Bless Google Images, and the accurate images which pop up when you search for the word ‘groping’. Good thing I had the safety filter on, eh?
Japanese women are apparently going mad for a new application available for download on mobile handsets over there. The ‘Anti-Groping Appli’ flashes various messages up on mobiles, such as ‘Excuse me, did you just grope me?’, ‘Groping is a crime’, and finally ‘Shall we head to the police?’ It’s currently sitting at number seven on this week’s top 10 list of mobile applications over there, with groping of innocent women on public transport an increasingly huge problem.
I have my doubts over whether such an application could work here in Britain or not. Imagine riding the tube late at night, when some drunkard fondles your boob. Would you really consider whipping…
Smell-o-vision: NTT Communications trial aroma-emitting digital sign technology
As if our noses don’t get assaulted enough with vile scents in the form of pungent perfumes, stinky body odor, and overcooked food when out and about, a company over in Japan has created aroma-emitting digital sign technology.
Or ‘Smell-o-vision’, as our Editor In Chief, Stuart, described. Dubbed ‘Kaoru Digital Signage’ by NTT Communications, the electronic signs will be stationed outside the Kirin City Beer Hall at the Yaesu Shopping Mall in Tokyo…
Delicate robot fingers to caress your scalp
It looks quite terrifying, but don’t let the fact that it has enough power to rip your head off put you off having a relaxing head rub.
The WAO-1 robot, developed by Japan’s Waseda University, was initially designed to help massage people with jaw problems back to health. Then someone stuck their head in it for a laugh/drunken bet…
