B&W collaborates with ex-Genesis frontman Peter Gabriel for Music Club community
A hardware company launching a music store? Who do they think they are – Apple?
Not Bowers & Wilkins (or B&W as you probably know them), as the high-ish-end audio company has announced their collaboration with Peter Gabriel for the launch of their B&W Music Club, a community offering music fans a DRM-free, lossless album once a month, in exchange for £23.95 for six months of your support, or £33.95 for a year’s membership. That works out to less than three quid an album!…
YouTube Hits: Again & Again video, made using Windows this time
Over a week ago Dan posted a video of the Dennis Liu-created video featuring the Bird & and The Bee song ‘Again & Again’, that was created using Mac programs.
What would the same music video look like, if it was made using Windows? Oy…
Napster takes on iTunes by offering six million tracks DRM-free, for just 99 cents
Napster has gone from strength to strength in recent months, proving that the once-illegal P2P service really does have a place in today’s music industry.
In addition to sampling Scarlett Johansson’s album ahead of the official release, they’ve just grabbed all that nasty DRM from their paid downloads, and flushed it down the toilet. As of today, all of the six million tracks they offer customers will be available in unprotected 25kkbps MP3 form, for only 99 cents. Considering the previous DRM-ridden tracks were just 192kbps, that’s mighty generous of the music giant.
Here’s the best bit though – Napster has managed to pull off the coup of the century, convincing all four major record labels to support them in their attack on DRM tracks. Apple’s iTunes offers…
Facebook lifting 5,000 friend limit is "a fake rumor" according to Loic Le Meur
This is Robert Scoble. He has too many friends on Facebook as you can see. Many others share similar plights – Jason Calacanis, comedian Jimmy Carr, heck – even Yoko Ono.
French blogger-turned web entrepreneur, Loic Le Meur (see my video interview with him here), whilst approaching that 5,000 friend limit fast, has published a post on his personal blog, drenching water all over that fiery hot rumour of recent times, that Facebook was soon to be lifting the 5,000 friend limit, claiming “it was a fake rumor”…
Shiny Video Review: Fujifilm Z20fd digital camera
First shown towards the end of January in that post-CES-and-Macworld lull, the Z20fd from Fujifilm’s FinePix range is the shiny new upgrade to the Z10fd we raved about here.
A sparking 10-megapixel sensor, Fujinon 3x optical zoom and 45MB of internal memory will ensure the photos you snap will be looking as good as your credit card balance – it’s only £110. …
Eee PC 901 will be launching June 3rd, for under $650 according to blabbermouths
Yesterday we saw the first pictures of the Eee 901, which is an updated 900 model with a few noticeable differences exterior-wise, and with a new Intel Atom chip.
It appears June is the month for product announcements and launches, with the 901 due to hit retail on June the 3rd, for under $650 (£325) reportedly. Another…
The Star Wars R2-D2 web-cam is also a VoIP phone, digital camera, remote control…
R2-D2 has been reincarnated in many various forms before, however this is the first time I’ve seen him as an all-in-one little web-cam. Have you seen it before?
However long it’s been kicking around on the internet for, it’s only just been added to the virtual shelves at I Want One Of Those. In addition to allowing you to show your rude bits at your various IM contacts, it can also be used…
Apple rumour #78,941 for the week – new MacBooks in as little as six weeks?
Thankfully another rumour from inside Cupertino has reared its smooth white head, with a Commercial Times article claiming that we’ll be seeing an upgrade to the MacBook range in the third quarter of 2008.
For anyone holding out for a new MacBook, that’s at least six weeks away, and even then, it’s still just rumour. The rumours this time around seem to be based on two Taiwanese flat-panel makers receiving orders for up to 3 million units for new MacBooks.
Most believe the revision will…
YouTube Hits: Bill O'Reilly 'flips out' dance remix
The original video has become somewhat of a video viral the past week, with us Tech Digestites watching it about four times a day, every day this week. Now, the inevitable has happened – someone’s made a dance remix of it….
First Blu-ray players for under $300 alert!
The cheapest Blu-ray players in the world have just clocked in at the American supermarket chain, Wal-mart, at under $300 – roughly £150.
Available for $298, the Magnavox NB500MG9 and Sylvania NB500SL9 have some nice features surprisingly, including Blu-ray Final Profile 1.1, HDMI 1.3, and DVD ‘upscaling’ to 1080p. Still, they’re not quite as cheap as those $99 Toshiba HD DVD players…
