Steve Jobs: "MobileMe wasn't good enough" to ship alongside iPhone 3G
Showing the sort of honesty that important company bosses only ever display well after a product launch, Steve Jobs has criticised the iPhone 3G’s MobileMe synching app, saying it’s, well, a bit rubbish.
In the internal email to Apple staff, leaked to tech blog Ars Somethingorother, Steve said “It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same…
Dell WANTS IN on the MP3 player and music retailing scene?
Box-shifter par excellence Dell is planning to enter the MP3 player market, according to a bit of sniffing around from the Wall Street Journal.
The WSJ reckons that Dell wants a bit of the lucrative music retailing pie as well, so is planning to launch what industry experts will be calling an “iTunes killer” alongside its alleged range of players…
Toilet clogs, tooth pain, athlete's foot and lung cancer – Google Knol launches today
Good lord, Google has finally done something massively, terribly, horribly and publicly WRONG and BAD – thrust Google Knol upon an uncaring world.
The worthy and serious supposed competitor to Wikipedia, which features by-lined articles so you can apparently “trust” the writer more, has now gone public. And it’s great news – if you really need a guide to unblocking toilets in a hurry.
Or if you fancy reading about…
Apple sells one million iPhone 3Gs in three days, 10m App Store downloads
Apple claims to have sold one million iPhone 3Gs over launch weekend, despite problems which plagued its debut in several countries. That’s 25 times faster than the original iPhone, which took 74 days to reach the million mark, albeit in just a few countries rather than the 22 privileged nation to the second incarnation.
Steve Jobs said, “iPhone 3G had a stunning opening weekend.” Well, he was hardly going to say it was crap, was he?…
Rumour: O2 stores 7am opening for iPhone 3G launch, pre-reg from 1st July
With the iPhone 3G’s launch now just over two weeks away, a member of O2’s retail staff has apparently spilled the beans on the company’s launch plans.
Unlike Apple’s previous product launches in the UK, the iPhone 3G could be available from 7am, with O2 stores opening a couple of hours earlier to help get as many customers kitted out as possible…
3G iPhone June launch date confirmed as 100% FACT by, er, AT&T cancelling its employee holiday
American exclusive iPhone supplier AT&T has given the world its iPhone Rumour of the Day today, thanks to an internal email.
The phone company has asked its employees not to book any holiday between the dates of June 15 and July 12 – presumably, as the blogosphere is now presenting as 100% confirmation, because the 3G iPhone is indeed coming in June and it’s going to be ALL HANDS TO THE DECK to cope…
MDA Compact IV. Sort of exclusive to T-Mobile, running Windows Mobile 6.1 – and out before 3G iPhone?
The MDA Compact IV is only “sort of” exclusive to T-Mobile, as the Compact IV is a rebadged version of the HTC Diamond 3G touchy phone. Which is coming out on Orange this June. Confused? Yes. The hot weather’s not helping, either.
The big features of the MDA Compact are its HSDPA technology for fast browsing and use as a modem, Windows Mobile 6.1 for doing BUSINESS, 4GB of internal storage, a 3.1megapixel camera plus, as is most fashionable these days, a touchable screen. Here’s a big photo of it, as it’s clearly quite a very special phone if there’s been such a flurry of licensing and rebranding surrounding it:
The fully 3G MDA Compact IV will be on sale through…
PlayStation3 launches in South Korea – 50 people are very happy about that today
Sony launched its PlayStation3 console in South Korea over the weekend, hoping that the land of lunatic (“100 hours or DEATH!”) online RPG fans might take to its not-exactly-popular-anywhere-else new games system.
“Around 50” gamers queued for a PS3 in Seoul on launch morning, with Sony Asia boss …
Rez HD finally coming to Xbox Live this Wednesday
If you’re a bit old, like SEGA and remember all the Good Old Days of gaming, you’ve more than likely been hitting F5 on the internet for months, waiting for news about Rez HD’s launch date to arrive.
The game’s a bit of a legend. A fierce dance music soundtrack backs the shooting action, with exploding enemies erupting in more sound. And it all starts throbbing the further you get into it, entrancing anyone who happens to be within viewing distance of the TV. It has a happy place in the hearts of most Dreamcast fans, even though it later came out on PlayStation2…
Eee PC's global success story – next stop: Japan
It’s small, it’s portable, you can hack the hell out of it and even replace its cool Linux build with Vista – and soon the Japanese will have to chance to get their hands on Asus’ star portable blogging station.
Coming to Japan in February of 2008, working the poor old Asus manufacturing facility is about to get one hell of a lot harder…
