Lego Rock Band confirmed
I know, I know. You’ve always wanted to combine your love of Lego Star Wars and Rock Band. Well, Warner hear you and they’ve got your back. The company has confirmed that it’ll be releasing Lego Rock Band later this year on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
Songs already confirmed for the game include Blur’s “Song 2”, Carl Douglas’ “Kung Fu Fighting”, Europe’s “The Final Countdown”, Good Charlotte’s “Boys and Girls”, and Pink’s “So What”. It’ll combine the actually-quite-funny Lego games’ humour with the gameplay of the Rock Band franchise. And you can bet it’ll be one of those circular pieces over to the left speeding towards you.
There’ll be a career mode, just like the other versions of the game, except you play as a lego minifig. Players will be able to customise their avatars, as well as customising their entourage, including roadies, managers and crew. It’ll work with existing Rock Band instruments.

CES 2009: LEGO-inspired kids gadgets coming soon courtesy of Digital Blue
One of the quirkier stories to come out of CES this year was the partnership between Digital Blue and LEGO which will see a number of kid-centric gadgets produced with the iconic plastic brick look.
This isn’t build it yourself, unfortunately, so don’t think you’ll be able to buy a box full of LEGO pieces, a CMOS sensor, LCD and a few buttons and create your own digital camera. It’s just the look, rather than the actual coloured blocks, but that’s probably just as well as it would be pretty irritating to drop said camera and have it break into a hundred pieces…
Tilted Twister – Lego robot solves Rubik's Cube in six minutes
File this one under ‘awesome’. It’s a Lego Mindstorms robot which can solve a Rubik’s Cube on its own in just six minutes, with an average of 60 faceturns. It uses a colour sensor to work out what’s where, then takes a moment to work out a plan, then executes it with blinding efficiency. Check it out at double speed in the video above.

Make your expensive architect-designed house look RUBBISH with a LEGO radiator
Sarah Beeny would not be impressed. This could take tens of thousands off the value of your home. The terms & conditions of your mortgage would be voided. You’d be out on the street for Christmas. If you let your children be in charge of your internal design decisions, you get what you deserve.
This is a concept radiator (or at least a concept image of a concept radiator) by Italian firm Sciroccoh, made out of component pieces that resemble LEGO. It’s not particularly clever, as all the illustrator has done here is take an existing thing – in this case a household radiator – then imagine what it would look like if it was made out of LEGO…
Make your own mini-Segway with an Arduino
This one fits firmly into the hobbyist category, but a bloke on a set of message boards has managed to create a little mini-Segway using parts worth about thirty quid or so. All it consists of is some Lego and an Arduino…
New world record: Tallest LEGO tower
You know how much we love LEGO here at Tech Digest, so when we heard about a new world record involving the lovely plasticky bobbly blocks, we had to let you know.
Built in Toronto, and overseen by “official LEGO builders from Denmark”, the tower stands 29.3 metres tall and uses 465,000 bricks, and required a crane to finish the job. It took nearly a month to complete…
Lego UK sets a force-ful record by assembling over 30,000 Star Wars figurines
Emily Tan writes: Slaving in their own Clone factory, 60 Lego UK employees laboured all day to assemble 35,510 Stormtrooper figurines – breaking the record for largest assembly of Star Wars figurines. The troopers were from the new Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie range released in anticipation of the upcoming CG animated movie, Star Wars: The Clone Wars. All proceeds from the event are to be donated to the National Autistic Society (NAS).
USB 2.0 LEGO Bluetooth adapter
I’m not quite so much of a LEGO freak/geek as most but there is something cute about this 2×2 LEGO brick Bluetooth 2.0 adapter
Planet Express immortalised in Lego (along with Bender's shiny metal ass)
Rather impressively, an eager Futurama fan has created a fully detailed replica of Prof. Farnsworth’s Planet Express headquarters. Lego builder, Pepa Quin has assembled each of the characters, including Nibbler, Zapp Brannigan and a random janitor-esque figure.
