Details of the scrapped Grand Theft Auto film unearthed
Movies based on games are invariably bad. Resident Evil, Mortal Combat; both naff. Don't even get me started on the Chun-Li movie, though I do have a silly soft spot for the Bob Hoskins-fronted Mario Bros. film. One game that…

Asteroids the movie – what HD was made for
Asteroids is coming to a big screen near you. That’s no lie. The classic Atari title, originally released 30 years ago, is being made into a movie.
I’m expecting it to be quite intense viewing – plenty of complicated dialogue, elaborate plot twists and some Oscar-worthy performances from its cast.
Or maybe it will stay faithful to the original game and will simply be two-hours of a triangle-based spaceship blowing up some square-ish looking asteroids with little or no plot at all. Maybe they could even shoot it in black and white for added authenticity.
Universal has apparently signed up Matthew Lopez to write the script for the film which will be produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
It sounds like a winner. No honestly. Although it will have a hard job dislodging Super Mario Bros as the best ever movie adaptation of a game. Bob Hoskins as Mario – genius.

Get yourself in the mood for the movie with a quick blast on the original game:
Turning on the Large Hadron Collider (again) in June will be… Tom Hanks
That’s right, ladies and gentlemen – Forrest Gump will be pressing the big red button when the Large Hadron Collider comes back on in June, potentially dooming us all into getting sucked into a vast black hole. If I do end up ending my life in that way, I’ll be a little happier knowing that it was all Tom Hanks’ fault.
In a scene right out of Blackpool’s Christmas Lights, a Hollywood actor will be taking precedence over the world’s biggest and brightest minds to switch back on the massive, costly, science experiment that was switched off shortly after it was turned on, following a massive plasma leak.
Seriously, though – why Tom Hanks? It’s not like they need the publicity that a Hollywood star will bring to the proceedings. In fact, his presence only detracts from the event, and makes whoever booked him look very foolish indeed. I don’t have anything against Hanks, in fact I enjoy his work, but seriously – in big gold, shining letters – WHY?

JVC's 2009 Everio camcorder range
JVC’s just sent us a bunch of details about their 2009 lineup of camcorders, and because we’re nice, I fancied sharing them with you. There’s the HD range, the G-series and the S-series. The HD range, as you might imagine from the name, are high-definition, the S-series model has dual SD card slots, and the G series is a mixed bag.
Let’s start with the S-series, because the word “start” begins with S. There’s only one new model here, the GZ-MS120. As previously mentioned, it’s got dual SD card slots and you can record continuously, so that if you run out of space on one it’ll automatically swap to the other. In highest quality mode, you’ll get 3.7 hours of recording from a pair of 8GB SD cards. In lowest quality, you’ll get about 20 hours.
