Brilliant news. We doubt anyone noticed, but brilliant news all the same.

The no-doubt popular-on-the-internet band RedBoxBlue has made the claim, reckoning that its series of streaming video performances currently being shown on Facebook are indeed a world first.

It’s not 100% live, though – they’re only beaming taped…

Apple could use iPhone 3G to intro new mobile music services

Apple may use the highly anticipated launch of a iPhone 3G to expand its mobile music offerings, in a bid to hold on to its lucrative lead in online digital music.

At present, iPhone users can either use a Wi-Fi hotspot to purchase and download music from iTunes, or simply “side-load” it from iTunes running on their PC whenever they synchronise their iPhone.

A iPhone 3G’s faster cellular connection could allow users to purchase music over the air.

Mobile phone music "too complicated" for most users

mum who can’t be bothered working out how to buy, organise and listen to digital music on her mobile phone – 66% of people simply have no interest in using their phones for buying music.

With most saying it’s too expensive and too awkward to put tunes on their phones, only a rather pathetic 14% of the 1800 people surveyed by Jupiter said they gave a rat’s arse about buying full tracks via their mobiles…

Two techies at Microsoft’s research lab have developed software which can automatically generate a musical backing track to anything sung at it.

MySong allows “creative but musically untrained individuals [to] get a taste of song writing and music creation,” according to co-creator Dan Morris.

The software first generates a file containing the sequence of sung notes using pitch tracking, and then computes a suitable musical backing using “chord probability computation”…

I was going to write this afternoon about the rumours regarding MySpace Music coming through the wires getting hotter and faster, but before I had a chance, they only went and issued a formal press release about it!

As expected, they’ve entered a partnership with Universal Music Group, Sony BMG and Warner Music Group, which will offer music services on MySpace, a site that’s been known as a music community ever since all the sensible people fled to Facebook in 2007. Enhancing the MySpace Music platform already in place, they’ll offer DRM-free digital downloads, ad-supported audio and video streaming, a mobile store plus plenty of other knick knacks…

Kingston Technology are probably not in it for love, but they’ve announced the release of a special edition “Black and White” Mobile Memory Kit, featuring a 1GB microSD card preloaded with a selection of Ricky Martin music, video and mobile phone wallpapers, plus a USB reader.

I don’t care what you say — celebrity endorsed technology products are far more exciting that bog standard gadgetry…

Here’s one for any of you still in hiding, clutching your 12 hard drives packed full of downloaded MP3s and down to your last can of cold tomato soup. You can come out now, it’s safe – well nearly.

I wouldn’t start re-seeding your collection just yet but you can start downloading for free and shout from the roof-tops about it if you wish. Hell, call the police for a chat while you’re at it.

LegalTorrents.com was started back in 2003 as a collection of hand-picked torrents that the website’s founder, Simon Carless, had permission to use. As from today, LegalTorrents is open for the internet community to add to at will – once they’ve been approved…
