Shiny Video Preview: HP 2133 Mini-Note sub-notebook
Dan and I may’ve fondled the Acer Aspire One last week, but over in Berlin, Lucy got to grips with HP’s Eee PC-like offering, the 2133 Mini-Note.
Weighing 1.19kg, the screen measures 8.9″, and it runs on either Linux or Windows XP/Vista. Check out what Lucy has to say about it, in the video above…
Shiny Video Preview: HP Voodoo Envy 133 notebook
Al’s only just finished telling you about the Voodoo Envy 133 laptop from HP, however Lucy’s one step ahead of him, as she’s just filmed a video preview of what’s being claimed as the ‘world’s thinnest laptop’, bumping Apple’s MacBook Air off its throne…
HP adds dv4, dv5 and dv7 notebooks to Pavilion range, the former with integrated 3G
We didn’t get any new MacBooks this week, however HP has announced plans to add three new consumer notebooks to its Pavilion range – the dv4 (measuring 14.1″), dv5 (measuring 15.4″), and dv7 (17″) which are all pictured above.
The three models all feature AMD or Intel Centrino 2 processors, plus high-speed eSATA interfaces. Most notable however, is the dv4 which has integrated WWAN for 3G internet connectivity, the first consumer laptop to do so, with the HDD starting at 120GB. Coated in a “sleek, liquid-metallic Mesh Imprint finish” with “magical chrome” touch controls, you can choose to add Blu-ray optical drives, TV…
Hivision's 'eco-friendly' NB1020 sub-notebook runs on Windows Vista, firm rival for Eee 1000
Hivision is a brand we’re unlikely to ever see in the Western World, however it’s worth showing to you, due to the claim that it’s an ‘eco-friendly’ sub-notebook.
Shown off at Computex, the PC expo in Taipei, the NB1020 runs on Linux, Windows XP and…Vista? It has a 1.6GHz processor speed, 512 DDR RAM, and an 80GB HDD. It’s on the large end of the sub-notebook scale, measuring 10.2″, with a resolution of 1024 x 600…
Asus innovation of the day – a laptop with a mini projector built in
Imagine the joy. Imagine the power. Imagine the sheer amount of BUSINESS that could be done, any time, any place, anywhere that has a white-ish wall suitable for projecting slides and PDFs onto.
That’s the future-world dream of Asus, which has revealed this little monster – a laptop with one of the new-wave of miniaturised projectors stuck inside. It sits flush against the lid, then swivels out when the need to bore someone with your…
Sure, it's an Eee 900 clone, but the Gigabyte M912 turns into a tablet PC with a twist
The Computex show rolls on, bringing many PC-shaped delights to those lucky enough to attend the Taipei expo. Gigabyte just previewed its M912 laptop-cum-tablet PC which will now be added to the mental list of ‘Eee PC bandwagon jumpers’.
An 8.9-inch screen puts it in direct competition with the Eee 900 and countless others, yet it’s got something clever up its USB port – a rotating 180 degree function which turns it into a tablet.
Internally, Gigabyte has packed in a 2.5-inch S-ATA hard disk with storage capacity of up to 250GB, and up to 4GB SSD if you choose. A 1.3-megapixel webcam and Windows or Linux OS finish…
Asus "Bamboo" EcoBook laptop now just slightly laminated on the inside
Remember this thing? That was the mock-up. The dream. The reality, as ever, is much more disappointing than the original crazed fantasy. The final Asus U6 now just comes with a small strip of wood surrounding the keyboard and screen, no doubt to stop warping and to help it pass stringent modern fire regulations.
So it’s not really an “eco-friendly” laptop any more. It’s now just a regular notebook with a bit of wood stuck on the front of it. It’s more of a design statement than a planet-saving option…
ASUS shows off the lovely leather U2E laptop in Korea – WANT!
With any luck this leather laptop from ASUS will be a darn-sight cheaper than the $5,000 offering from Lenovo – I’m a vegetarian but even I can appreciate how gorgeous that dead cow is, reclining on the metal interior of the U2E, above.
Measuring 11″, it’s just launched in Korea, and features an energy-efficient LED backlit display (1366 x 768, if you must know), a 32GB solid-state drive, and an Intel Core 2 Duo U7600 processor. There’s a DVD-Super Multi…
Shiny Video Preview: Toshiba Portégé M800 laptop
Yesterday I got hands-on with the Portégé M800 laptop minutes after it was announced, and have to say I was really impressed with my first trial of it. With its white glossy casing, silver accents and white LED lights, you’d be forgiven for thinking it was an updated MacBook. But no – it runs Vista, and will…
Toshiba adds the limited edition Portégé M800 notebook to their collection
At a press launch in Paris this morning, Toshiba has given the masses a couple of new laptop models to gnaw their teeth over indecisively. The Portégé M800, pictured, is unlike their previous Portégé offering (the R500), as it’s finished in a pearl-white casing, with silver contrasts and white LEDs.
Measuring in at 13.3″, it will be released into the wild in Europe, the Middle East and Africa later this year, Q3 to be ‘precise’…
